2. BADMINTON RACKET 3. BADMINTON NET

The badminton racket is lightweight yet strong. Once made of
wood, these rackets are now made of high-tech materials such as
carbon fiber, lightweight metal alloys and ceramics. These are used
in most modern badminton rackets today.

The racket used to strike the shuttlecock is lighter about 3 ounces

(85 grams) and narrower than a tennis racket; its head is about 9
inches long and 11 in wide.

The badminton racket has several parts:

.
Badminton nets run the entire width of the court (20’ | 6.1 m) and
are placed over the doubles sidelines, even when singles games
are played. The net is 5’1” | 1.55 m high at the edges and sags
slightly at the center resulting in a height of 5’ | 1.52 m. Badminton
nets are split into a 1:1 ratio from the floor to the top providing a 2.5’
| .76 m opening below and an equal mesh surface above. Variations
of badminton nets come in polyethylene, nylon, and vinyl.

4. SHUTTLECOCK
There are two types of shuttlecocks - plastic and feathered
shuttlecocks.
 HEAD - Oval part of the racket, including the frame and the
stringing. Plastic shuttlecocks are far more durable compared to the feathered
types which are commonly used.
 SHAFT - Elongated part of the racket that ends in the head. plastic shuttlecocks are only recommended for beginners who are
just starting out.
 BUTT - Enlarged end of the shaft that prevents the hand Plastic shuttlecocks are usually used by young children who play
