GENERAL INFORMATION Each candidate should have the following for this examination: (@) Traditional Drawing Method ‘Two sheets of drawing paper (both sides may be used) Drawing instruments Drawing board and T-square Metric scale rule (b) Computer-Aided Drafting Method ‘A minimum of three sheets of 11" « 17" paper Personal computer with monitor, keyboard, mouse and printer Computer-Aided Drafting software NOTE: After completing EACH question, save your work electronically on the available storage device. At the conclusion of the examination, the invigilator will give you instructions for submitting the saved files. ‘All dimensions are given in millimetres unless otherwise stated. When first angle or third angle is not specified, the choice of projection is left to the candidate's discretion, in which case the type of projection used MUST be clearly stated. Where scales to be employed are not stated, the full size should be applied. Each candidate should use his/her own judgement to supply any dimension or detail not directly shown on the drawings. ‘The number of each question answered MUST be written next to the solution Each candidate MUST enter his/her school code and registration number in the appropriate space at the bottom right-hand corner of each page. Answer BOTH questions. Candidates MAY use EITHER the Traditional Drawing Method OR the Computer-Aided Drafting Method. SECTION I - ASSEMBLY DRAWING Do NOT spend more than 2 hours on this section. 1, Figure 1, on the enclosed sheet, shows the first angle orthographic projection details of the parts that make up a bearing housing assembly. In assembly, the bearing clamp (2) is secured to the bearing bracket (1) and held in place by two bolts (5). Two bushings (4) are positioned on either end of the housing assembly. The pin (3) is fitted into the assembly bearing bracket (1) and bearing ‘clamp (2) and is held in position by the bushings (4). (@) Draw, FULLSIZE, in either first angle or third angle orthographic projection, the following views of the assembly: @ A front elevation. Show all hidden details. (ii) full sectional end elevation on cutting plane *Z-Z°. (b) Show SIX main dimensions to include a length, a diameter, a radius and a metric screw thread specification, (©) Print the title, “Bearing Housing Assembly”, and the scale used.
