What Is My Email Address? How to Find Out

Steps to find your email address in general, using an echo service, and across the most
popular email programs

What's my email? The steps you take to find out what

email address people see when you email them depends
on the service or email program you use. Below are
general instructions as well as specific instructions for
popular email providers.

Note: The general instructions work for all email

services, but there are specific directions for some
of the major providers.

General Instructions for Finding Your

Email Address
To identify your email address in almost any email
program or service, make sure your email is functioning
properly and then open the program or service and:

1. Start a new email message.

2. Look for a line that begins with From. It contains your

email address.

Echo services, typically run by universities, are safe to

use. Known services do not store your message or your
email address, and they do not sell or otherwise use it.

Use an echo service such as the one provided by the

Vienna University Computer Center by addressing your
email to [email protected]. You will receive a response,
and your email address will be in the To field.

1. Start a new email message in your email program or

service.

2. Enter [email protected] in the To field. No subject line

or message is necessary.

3. Select Send.

4. Wait for and open the email from Vienna University

Echo.

5. Find your email address in the To line at the top of the

email address.

Other methods can be used to find your email address,

but they vary depending on the service you use.

What Is My AOL Email Address?

To find the AOL email address used by default for
sending messages from AOL Mail.

1. Start a new message by clicking Compose.

2. See the default sending email address after your name

above the To line.

3. If you see more than one address, select the address

you prefer to use. All of them belong to you.

What Is My Email Address in Mail for

Windows?
To find out what your email address is in Mail for
Windows:

1. Make sure the email sidebar is fully visible in Mail for

Windows. Select the hamburger menu button to
expand a collapsed sidebar if necessary.

2. See each account's email address listed under the

account name in the Accounts section.

3. If an account has more than one email address you can

use for sending, you can create a new email and see
all addresses by clicking the From line.

What Is My Gmail Email Address?

To know the email address you use by default to send
email in Gmail on the desktop as well as the Gmail apps
for iOS and Android:

1. Start a new message by selecting Compose.

2. Find the email address used for sending in the From

line.

Note: The From field will only be visible if you

have added additional email accounts in Gmail.

3. Click the default address next to From to see other

addresses set up for sending in Gmail.

To find the email address you picked when you created

the Gmail account:

1. Click your picture or avatar near Gmail's top right

corner.

2. View your primary Gmail email address listed under

your name. If you have connected Gmail accounts, the
current account is listed on top.

3. Your primary Gmail address also appears in the

browser's title or tab bar on the desktop.

To see your primary Gmail address in the Gmail app:

1. Tap your profile image at the top right.

2. Find the current account's address listed under your

name.

What Is My iCloud Mail Email

Address?
To see the default email address used for sending mail in
iCloud Mail at icloud.com, log in to your Apple account
with your Apple ID and find your iCloud email address in
the Reachable At section of that page.

What Is My Outlook.com, Hotmail or

Live Mail Email Address?
To identify your Outlook Mail email address, which you
may have gotten from Hotmail, Live Mail or Outlook.com:

1. Click or press New message to start a new email.

2. Look for the email address listed next to From.

3. Click From to see all addresses configured for sending

and change the sending address for the current email.

To find out what the primary email address connected to

your Outlook Mail account is, click your name or image
near Outlook Mail's top right corner and find the Outlook
Mail email address listed beneath your name under My
account.

What Is My Yahoo Mail Email

Address?
To know the primary email address for your Yahoo Mail
account, select your name or nickname in the top Yahoo
Mail navigation bar. Find your Yahoo Mail email address
listed right beneath your name in the window that opens.

What Is My Email Address in iOS

Mail (iPhone or iPad)?
To find out what your email address is in iOS Mail:

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Go to the Passwords & Accounts category.

3. In the Accounts section, tap the desired email

account.

4. View the email address for the chosen account at the

top of the screen.

What Is My Email Address in

Outlook
To see which email address you are using in Outlook for
Windows:

1. Create a new email by pressing Ctrl+N.

2. See your email address in the From line.

3. Click From to see other email addresses you can use.

To determine your email address in Outlook for Mac:

1. Select Outlook > Preferences from the menu in

Outlook.

2. Open the Accounts category under Personal

Settings.

3. Find the address for each account listed under its

name.

To find out about your email addresses in Outlook for

iOS and Android:

1. Start composing a new email.

2. See the default email address listed under New

Message at the top. If you have multiple accounts and
addresses configured, tap the default address to see
all options.

What Is My Yandex.Mail Email

Address?
To see the email address used to send messages by
default in Yandex.Mail:

1. Start a new message: click Compose or press C.

2. Find your default email address in the From line.

3. Click that address to see other email addresses set up

for sending from Yandex.Mail.

To identify your primary Yandex.Mail email address, click

your image, username or silhouette near Yandex.Mail's
top right corner. Your primary Yandex.Mail address is in
the pop-out menu.

What Is My Zoho Mail Email

Address?
To see which email address is used by default when you
send a new message in Zoho Mail:

1. Start a new email by clicking New Mail.

2. Find the default sending address next to From.

3. To determine your original email address for your Zoho

Mail account, click the image or outline in Zoho Mail's
top right corner. See the primary Zoho Mail email
address listed beneath your name on the window that
appears.

What Is My ProtonMail Email

Address?
To see which email address ProtonMail uses for sending
when you start a new message:

1. Click Compose in the web interface to start a new

email.

2. See your default ProtonMail address in the From line.
