TEACHER : Mr. Ivan I. Molina LEARNING AREA : Mathematics
DATE & TIME : QUARTER : 3rd

I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards
Demonstrate understanding of key concepts of geometry of shapes and
sizes, and geometric relationships.

B. Performance Standards
The learner can create models of plane figures and formulate and solve
accurately authentic problems involving sides and angles of a polygon.

C. Learning Competency
Illustrates subsets of a line.
(M7GE-IIIa-2)

D. Specific Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
1. describe and name a plane and a point,
2. define, identify and name the subsets of a line.

II. CONTENT Basic Geometrical Concepts and Properties

III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. References
1. Teacher’s Guide Pages : None
2. Learner’s Materials Pages : Mathematics Quarter 3-Module 2: Subset of a line
3. Additional Materials: paper, pen

IV. PROCEDURES
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY
A. Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer
May I request everyone to please In the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the
stand for the prayer? Holy Spirit, Amen…

Please be seated.

2. Greetings
Good morning class! Good Morning Sir!
How are you this morning? We are very much fine, Sir!

3. Checking of attendance
Are there any absent today? None Sir.
Very good!
Are you excited for our new lesson for
today? Yes we are, Sir!
Wow, good to hear that.

4. Setting of Rules
Before we finally move on to our
lesson, let us first have an agreement. Is
that fine with you all? Yes, sir!

I want you to keep all things that are

not needed to our discussion. Sit properly
and do not talk with your seatmates.

What will you do if you want to

answer to my questions?
We’ll just raise our hands silently,
sir.
Very good!

And what will you do if

somebody is talking here in front? We should listen attentively, sir.
Bravo!

What about if we have group activities? We have to cooperate and participate, sir.

So, do we have an agreement now? Yes, sir!

B. Review
Before we proceed to our new lesson
for today, let us have a short recap about
our lesson last week.

Do you still remember what was our

lesson last week? About Points and lines sir.

Very Good!

What is a point? 1. A point is usually represented by

a small dot.
2. It has no dimension.
3. It shows location.
Very good!

What is a line? 1. A line is always straight and

infinite in two directions
2. It contains infinite points
3. It has no width but has length
4. It represented by two arrowhead
in two directions.

1. A plane is represented by flat

What is a plane? surface, extended without end.
2. It has no thickness and edge, but
Very good! has length and width.
3. It contains infinite point.
Do you have any questions about our
last topic? No sir.

Alright!

C. Motivation
Okay class, now I have here a set of
pictures or figures. All you want to do is to
identify the figures.

So now, what do you think is our (Students’ answers vary.)

lesson for today?

D. Presentation
This morning we are going to discuss
about geometry in which you are expected
to: describe and name a plane and a point,
define, identify and name the subsets of a
line.

E. Discussion

SUBSETS OF A LINE

1. LINE SEGMENT

 Line Segment has two endpoints

 Stop at the endpoints.
Example:

2. RAY

 Ray has one endpoint.

 Extends in one direction without
end.

Example:

1. COLLINEAR POINTS
 Collinear points are points that lie
on the same line.

2. NON-COLLINEAR POINTS
 Non-collinear points are points that
do not lie on the same line.

-Points E and F are non-collinear points.

3. COPLANAR POINTS
 Coplanar points are any three
points combination that are in the
same plane.

4. NON-CONPLANAR POINTS
 Non-coplanar points are any three
points combination that are not in
the same place.

- Point E and F are non-coplanar points

F. Developing Mastery
Now, let’s have a board work.
What are the collinear points? Collinear Points
What are the non-collinear points? Point: A,B,C,D
What are the lines and line segments?
Name 2 line segments. Non-collinear Points
What are the rays? Name 2 rays Point: E, F

Coplanar Points
What are the coplanar points and non- Point: all points inside the plane
coplanar points?
Non-coplanar Points
Point: all points that are not inside the plane
Non-coplanar points
Point: CAF, ABE, ABF, CAE

No, sir.

Any questions or clarifications?

Okay, very good!

G. Application

So now, I will divide you into two groups.

Each group must get 1 whole sheet of paper. Yes sir!
Each group must read the directions and
answer. I will give you 5 minutes to answer.

Are we clear?

Okay, good.
Collinear point
Directions: Identify the 3 Collinear points, 2
non-collinear points, 3 sets of coplanar points Point: DEF/FED
and 1 set of non-coplanar points.
Non-collinear point

Point: G H

Coplanar Point

Point: DGE, DGF

No sir!
Do you have any questions?

Okay good.

I. Evaluation
Yes sir.
Now I want you to get a 1 whole sheet
of paper. You have to answer it individual.
Understood?

1. Yes
2. Points: APC,DBP
1. Are points A,B, and P coplanar? Yes
3. Points: APF,CDF
or No.
4. Yes
2. Give 2 sets of coplanar points.
5. No
3. Give 2 sets of non-coplanar points.
6. A and B, A and D, B and C, C and D
4. Are points A,P,C is collinear? Yes or
7. APC,BPD
No?
5. Are points A,P,B are collinear points?
Yes or No?
6. Give 2 points that are non-collinear.
7. Give 3 points that are collinear points.
Are you done? Yes sir!

I want you to exchange your paper with

your seatmate.

Okay pass your paper in front.

Everyone is doing great. So give

yourselves an amazing clap. For your
assignment please write the following.

J. Assignment

Directions: Identify and give what is ask.

1. Give 4 line segments.

2. Give 2 rays.
3. Name a plane.
