VLSI DESIGN
Course Description
The course is designed to know how to design Integrated (Analog) Circuits (ICs) and integrate thousands,
millions or even billions of transistors on a single Si chip and these ICs are used in a variety of electronic
devices ranging from simple handheld devices to complex supercomputers.
Rationale: The value added course in VLSI Design enables master students, professionals to design, simulate,
and develop VLSI chip designing capabilities
Prerequisite, if any: A basic knowledge of circuits, electrical networks, and semiconductor devices and M.Sc.
(Physics) degree is required to enroll in this skill development program-
Course Objective
Ÿ To learn basic CMOS ICs Circuits.
Ÿ To learn CMOS fabrication process technology.
Ÿ To learn techniques of chip and IC design using simulator.
Ÿ To learn the concepts of designing VLSI Subsystems.
Course Outcome
CO1: Students will gain a strong understanding of various IC fabrication methods/VLSI technologies.
CO2:Students will become familiar with the device simulator, circuit simulator, and layout of simple MOS
circuit using Lambda based design rules
