GLOBALIZATION OF EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS


Course Purpose:
The purpose of this course is to introduce the learners to the globalization in Education
Institutions. Like economies and businesses, institutions of higher learning are competing,
expanding abroad, and striking cross-border deals.

Course Learning Outcome:


After successfully completing this course, the student should be able to:
1. Have knowledge of the essential theoretical assumptions underlying globalization’s
conceptual frameworks and research and their relationships to policy interventions
affecting education.
2. Be able to demonstrate basic knowledge of major issues or topics surrounding
globalization and education, including those that need further research and theory
development.
3. Understand how variables such as community, poverty, ethnicity, gender, race, and
politics relate to phenomena in globalization and education.
4. Understand the current trends and projects for the globalization of Education Institutions.

Course Content:
Graduate course designed for students who are interested in studying Education Institutions from
a global and international framework. The course will examine the complex issue and topics
shaping national Education Institutional systems throughout the world. The course will focus on
such topics as: policy, finance, governance, organization, administration, admissions, students,
faculty, economics, politics, and reform. An international field study trip may be included at the
discretion of the instructor.

Teaching Methodologies
Three contact hours per week, through lectures, discussion groups, projects, class presentations
and case studies

Course Assessment
Continuous Assessment (60%) and Examination (40%)
