Important Information for Lab 1:

1
1. The deadline of the lab report submission is one week after your lab session.
2. All report must be typewritten using the following format:
 Font: Times New Roman
 Font size: 12
 1.5 spacing
3. You must copy each question from the report template and then provide the answers after each.
4. You must include the cover page on the first page of your report. The cover page template is
on the first page of this document.
5. Use your word processor to make any necessary superscripts and subscripts. (Use V = 10R2
instead of V = 10R^2).
6. All graphs require labels and units on the axes and require a legend for more than one set of
y-axis data.
7. Use your word processor to place page numbers on all pages.

Note: This lab report has a total mark of 50.

Results of Section A
A2. Close both switches S1 and S2. Using multimeter, measure the output voltage vO. The circuit
becomes a voltage follower as shown in Figure 2 in the lab sheet. Thus, input offset voltage Vio = vO.
(2 marks)
Solution:

A3. Open switch S1 and close switch S2 as shown in Figure 1 in the lab sheet. Measure the output
voltage vO. Use the value of Vio found in step A2 to find the dc current flowing into the inverting input
terminal IB2 using the following equation:

(Equation 1)
(2 marks)

Solution:

A4. Close switch S1 and open switch S2. Measure the output voltage vO. The voltage at the (+) terminal
is vO – Vio. Use the value of Vio found in A2 to find the dc current flowing into the non- inverting input
terminal IB1 from the following equation

(Equation 2)

Discussion of Section B

1. With the aid of a diagram, briefly explain the definition of slew rate for an op-amp.
(4 marks)
Solution:

2. Based on the graph you have obtained in part B6, explain in detailed how the gain changes as the
frequency increases. What causes the gain changes?
(8 marks)

system.
