- The human person is composed of the Body and Soul
- St. Thomas of Aquinas. “Nothing without the other”
Body

other human beings
- A body without a soul is considered as a corpse or cadaver

- It animates the body making it the life-giving principle
- A soul without a human body is no longer a human person
Jesus is a religious leader whose life and teachings are recorded in the Bible’s New Testament.
He is a central figure in Christianity and is emulated as the incarnation of God by many
Christians all over the world.
Bethlehem was Jesus’ place of birth. He was born in 6BC. Jew/Judaism was his religion. He was
living in Nazareth.
Jesus was a Jewish peasant, which tells us about his social class. He was a wisdom teacher and
social prophet. Jesus was a healer, he was a Jewish mystic.
Mary
- Mary was a first-century Jewish woman of Nazareth
- Has been venerated since early Christianity, and is considered by millions to be
the holiest and greatest saint because of her extraordinary virtues
Joseph
- A first-century Jewish man of Nazareth
- Joseph is regarded as the patron saint and the protector of the catholic church.
- The first appearance of Joseph is in the gospels of Matthew and Luke, which
contain a genealogy of Jesus showing ancestry from King David.
The birth of Jesus shows that he was fully human. (Luke 2:7)
Before Jesus was born, the angel Gabriel told Joseph that Mary was going to bear a son to be
named Jesus Christ. (Matthew 1:21-23)
St. Luke’s reports states that the shepherds are the first visitor of Jesus since they were
nearby working.
St. Matthew protests that the Magi were the wise men who first see “The One” which is the
infant Jesus.
The Magis and their gifts to the Infant Jesus: Three kings or Three Wise Men

Frankincense/Incense
- It was used by the priest to purify and sanctify a certain place.
- It speaks of the priestly function of the infant ruler as the mediator between god
and man.
Gold
- It is an offering fit for a king
- It is considered as such for its great value due to its unchanging character.
Myrrh
- It is an expensive bitter substance used for embalming.
- Its bitterness speaks of the bitter offering of the life of this God-king for the
salvation of all, while the art of embalming is only given to important people.
When he was eight days old, circumcised and brought to the temple dedication. (Luke 2:21-22)
Circumcision is the sign of his incorporation into Abraham’s descendants into the people of the
covenant. It is the sign of his submission the law and his deputation to Israel’s worship
Although his conception was supernatural, his birth was normal, fully human child. Apostle Pail
wrote:
“But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under law.”
(Galatians 4:4)
Jesus showed all the traits of a human being except the sin

Messiah= Hebrew word which also means “anointed one”
Jesus is the Christ because he is consecrated by god and anointed by the holy spirit for his
redeeming mission.
Jesus Christ is the name of the man who Christians believe was the son of god, and whose
teachings are the basis of Christianity. He is the proclaimer of the kingdom of god in his
ministry, death, and Parousia (second coming).
Lord

- Jesus ascribed this title to himself and revealed his divine sovereignty by his

12, Jesus was found teaching doctors/teachers in the temple (Luke 2:46).

medicine to educate us on the importance of our life and learning our own
mistakes.
- It is by faith in Jesus and obedience to His teachings that we may live with God
again.
Savior
- The Old English name for Jesus is Joshua, meaning “Savior.” Jesus fulfilled
His role as Savior through His willing sacrifice and Resurrection.
- Six months after John the Baptist begins preaching, Jesus, who is now 30/31
years old, comes to him at the Jordan River. John understands that the baptism
he is performing is for those repenting of their sins.
- Jesus lived a perfect life – a life without sin.
- Jesus is not being baptized in symbol of repentance for sins. His baptism shows
that He is presenting Himself to do the will of His Father.
