REPORT ON INTERESTING JOBS

Given that, you can freely express your idea by adding more necessary points.

A job is one of the basic necessities of life in today's world because it is the
simplest tool to make money. However, it is also important to find a job that serves
not only your need for money but also your need for happiness and fulfillment. In
this essay, I have listed two jobs that are both exhilarating and enthralling to discuss.

Since I am a student majoring in marketing and I have a hobby of playing


video games in my spare time, I have longed to be a freelancer working in the
marketing department of the game industry. Some people might have asked what
the reason behind all of this is, the answer that they would get is straightforward:
“There is none.” To a simple-minded person like me, there’s nothing better in life
than working with what you are passionate about. However silly I may sound; I am
totally serious about the path that I have chosen. I have acknowledged that marketing
is all about creating values for the customers and in return retrieving the values that
would be created by them. Although different kinds of products require different
marketing approaches with the utilization of various marketing tools, all marketing
strategies should follow the main theory that is mentioned above. Regarding
marketing in the game industry, the main goals of marketing strategies in this section
are keeping the target audience influenced and interacting with the brand or the game
that they are interested in, in other words, operating campaigns that get the players
to know the game and maintain their regular logins into the game. Therefore, the

most popular and effective way to achieve those set goals is having the game
community formed by the players themselves. When the game community is shaped,
not only would the new players get involved in the game through the word of mouth
of the veteran players, but also players in the community would be encouraged by
each other to spend more time gaming. That being the case, it is essential for
marketers to perform marketing through people that could capture the attention and
increase the involvement and connection of players like nowadays Influencers
(Tiktokers, Youtubers, streamers, etc.) Moreover, off-fan events should not be
neglected because they bring more players to the game, build affection, and sustain
interaction with the players. Furthermore, it is interesting and attractive to me that
the market of the game industry has proved to have promising potential lately. The
gaming industry has recently witnessed a surge in demand and remarkable growth,
presenting a lucrative opportunity for marketers to capitalize on its attractiveness
and profitability. Over the past few years, the gaming sector has experienced an
explosive expansion, surpassing the combined revenues of both the film and music
industries. Notably, statistical data reveals a substantial increase in gaming industry
revenue, soaring from $120.4 billion in 2017 to approximately $257.1 billion USD
in 2023. Experts predict this upward trajectory will continue, projecting revenues to
exceed $321 billion USD by 2026 (PwC, Appendix). One of the key drivers behind
this remarkable growth is the escalating popularity of esports, a form of competitive
video gaming that draws millions of viewers and offers substantial prize money.
This phenomenon has contributed significantly to the gaming industry's upward
trajectory and its increasing appeal to marketers seeking promising investment
opportunities. As the gaming landscape becomes fiercely competitive, the role of
marketing becomes indispensable (Shannon Flynn, 2023). Clearly, the gaming
industry presents an enticing and dynamic environment that fuels the demand for
skilled marketers. Recognizing this tremendous potential, I am determined to seize
this opportunity and strive to become the best marketer in this industry. But
beforehand, I need to get myself prepared with the required skills to survive as a
marketer in this new world. The first set of skills that come into my mind is
communication skills. I believe this is the bread and butter of marketers to not only
help themselves persuade the customers into buying the products through effective

communication but also help the marketers to differentiate themselves from other
marketers. The ability to communicate successfully determines the amount of trust
that people are willing to give you. Words are a powerful weapon for marketers.
Another essential element that I need to consider learning is the ability to think
outside of the box. Being creative envisages marketers of crazy ideas that would
make their products stand out and distinguish them from competitors. Finally, the
last crucial skill that needs to be adopted is the skill to be able to understand and
read numbers. This includes monitoring and closely reporting on collected data from
established marketing strategies. It provides valuable insights into campaign
performance, audience reactions, and areas for improvement. Proficiency in data
analytics aid marketers in distinguishing successful campaigns from unsuccessful
ones. If I can master all the mentioned skills, I am confident to be ready for the next
upcoming challenge of becoming a marketer in the game industry.

The second job that I would like to discuss is programming. To be honest, I


have not had much thought put in to actually consider whether I should do this as a
profession of mine. Thinking that programming might be a useful tool to help me
achieve my dream job of working in the game industry in the future, I have only
started learning and writing codes recently as a hobby. However, if I ever find out
that I have a talent for this job, and that I am excellent at programming, I will
definitely seek certification in this area of profession and work my way to becoming
a programmer. Programmers are responsible for crafting code for computer
programs and mobile applications. Additionally, they play a crucial role in the
upkeep, identification, and resolution of issues within systems and software,
ensuring seamless operations (Herzing University, 2022). Moreover, it is important
for programmers to equip themselves with a set of skills like problem-solving which
involves breaking down complex problems into smaller, manageable tasks and
finding efficient solutions through coding, debugging, and troubleshooting; and the
ability to pay full attention to detail since even with a small detail missed or one
incorrect character could cause the whole program breaking down (Herzing
University, 2020). Therefore, these are the information and skills that I need to
notice and focus on if I am planning to become a programmer one day.

Of course, my main priority will stay working toward the marketing position
in the game industry. However, if things did not go as I expected, I would make a
turn to the world of programming.

In terms of personality traits, I consider myself to be easy-going, friendly,


sometimes approachable, kind-hearted, and sensible. Thanks to these personalities,
I am incentivized to acquire crucial skills, which are also my greatest strengths, in
this modern world like listening, adapting, and improvising.
Being warm-hearted and thoughtful has aided me a lot in becoming a good
listener by building up my patience and empathy. As a result, I have the patience to
listen to everybody’s stories and problems; and respond to them in the most
empathetic and well-mannered way, therefore, helping me build relationships by
gaining the trust of my friends. Moreover, good listening skills have always been
supporting skills that could in return provide me with abundant knowledge from the
stories and problems of my peers, in other words, they help me to learn from others’
mistakes.
The other strengths of mine are adaptability and improvisation. As I am easy-
going, friendly and approachable, my way of living tends to go with the flow
meaning that I go wherever life takes me to. Therefore, throughout my life, I have
always been put and tested in various environments encountering numerous
unfavorable situations and conditions. As an outcome, I have trained myself to be
adaptable and gained the ability to improvise. To further explain, I can now work
effectively and efficiently under different circumstances with various types of
people. Thus, adaptability provides me the flexibility to overcome upcoming
unknown challenges and welcome opportunities with ease. As for my improvisation
skill, it helps me to deal with situations that demanded spontaneous action with very
little time. Additionally, this ability encourages me to stay composed even in the
most challenging circumstances and devise innovative solutions to problems.
Besides all the strengths that I have mentioned above, I do also have apparent
weaknesses that need to be overcome. After all, there is no human on this planet
who could ever achieve perfection. Like anyone else, I often find myself struggling
with an insoluble problem which is procrastination. As I bear the bad habit of
delaying and postponing my tasks and assignments to the point where crisis appears
and I must stressfully exhaust myself in order to get the jobs done, I barely have any
spark of energy left to accomplish anything else. Moreover, I experience frequent

exhaustion, and mental illness leading to low productivity at work and at my


university life. No one could ever know that a small amount of laziness being built
up day by day would become indefatigable and inexhaustible one day leading to
catastrophic consequences of procrastination suffering. To tackle this problem, I
must set up clear goals and plans for the day, build an efficient timeline, and create
a scientific routine to best utilize all the time of a day. In addition, I must also train
myself harder to become more self-disciplined so that I could follow accordingly
with the plans that I have set.
Humans are imperfect with strengths and weaknesses; I am no other
exception. However, humans could always be the better yesterday's version of
themselves. To make progress and become better, I would always try my best to
expand and extend my strengths while overcoming the weaknesses that I have.
