Theme: Bridging the Gap
The challenges of 2020 have highlighted the differences between schools in terms of their
ICTs. The education department has decided to take steps to make the internet and
e-learning accessible to everyone.Various documents need to be completed.

Question 1 – Word processing

A document has been drafted to inform everyone involved.

Open the document 1Bulletin.

1.1 Change the character spacing of the title ‘E-LEARNING LESSONS’ on the cover
page to the ‘Normal’ setting.

1.2 Insert a table of contents on page 1 in the space provided, to appear as shown
below, without the border. (Only the first few entries of the table are shown.)
Please note: The table of contents must show only 2 levels.

1.3 Locate the table of figures on page 1.

 Perform the necessary editing so that, when the table of figures is updated, the
first entry in the table will be:
Figure 1: Internet..............................................................................................2
 Update the table of figures.

1.4 Locate the text (abbreviation) ‘ICT’ under the heading ‘Introduction’.
Ensure that this text will NOT be included in an automatic index, if such an index is
created.
Tip: First turn on Show/Hide ¶.

1.5 Locate the text ‘ER’ under the heading ‘Some silver linings’.
Add a footnote to this text, that is displayed as follows (without the border):

3
1.6 Locate the paragraph shaded in green under the heading ‘Adoption and adaption’.
Format the paragraph so that it is displayed as shown below. (Do not change any
colours.)
Please note:
– The width (‘thickness’) of the lines must be 4½ pt.
– Do not use the Space bar to position any text.

1.7 Locate the text ‘<< Citation >>’ under the heading ‘MOOCs (Massive Open Online
Course)’.
Replace the text with a citation to the source Computers, part of your life –
Grade 12.
The citation must appear as follows: (Jacobs, 2018, p. 59)

1.8 Change the styles in the document as follows:

 Change the paragraph ‘After’ space of the Heading 2 style to 6 pt.
 Change all instances of the Heading 3 style to the Subtitle style.

1.9 Locate the text ‘survey’ under the heading ‘Internet connectivity’.
Make it possible for the user to press Ctrl+Click on this text to ‘jump’ to the heading
‘Appendix: Survey results’.

1.10 Locate the paragraph with the image under the heading ‘Compatibility issues’.
Make the necessary change, so that the text in the paragraph ‘flows’ around the
image as shown below.

4
1.11 Locate the text in blue under the heading ‘The road ahead’.
Use Word’s column feature and the symbol represented by Wingdings character
code 56 to format this text as follows (do not change any colours):

1.12 Locate the SmartArt diagram under the heading ‘The road ahead’.
Change the diagram to appear as follows:

1.13 Locate the text box shaded in yellow under the heading ‘The road ahead’.
Insert the file name of the current document as a field, together with the path of the
document.

1.14 Locate the text in red under the heading ‘Important issues’.
Format the text as a multilevel list that appears as follows, without the border (do
not change any colours):

1.15 Insert an automatic index under the heading ‘Index’.

The index must be formatted as follows:

1.16 Change the referencing style of the bibliography to the Harvard – Anglia

5
1.17 Locate the Appendix, which is contained on the last two pages of the document and
which consists of a table under the heading ‘Appendix: Survey results’.
1.17.1 Edit the table as follows:
 Ensure that if the table spans more than one page (as is presently the
case), the header row (top row) will appear on every page on which the
table appears.
 Add the appropriate formula in the bottom right cell.
1.17.2 Insert the image 1Pencil only in the header of the Appendix. (This image
must not appear on any other page in the document.)
Please note: The necessary section break has already been inserted.
1.17.3 Change the automatic page numbers in the footer of the two pages of the
Appendix, to ‘A’ and ‘B’ (without the quote marks).
Do NOT change the page numbers of any other pages in the document.

1.18 Replace all instances of the word ‘pupils’ with the word ‘LEARNERS’ (in
uppercase).

Save and close the 1Bulletin document.

Question 2 – Spreadsheet

A spreadsheet has been created to store the results of a survey of e-learning in schools.

Open the 2Survey spreadsheet and work in the Chart worksheet, which contains a chart
comparing the various e-learning platforms used.

2.1 Change the chart so that it appears as shown below, by following the instructions
on the next page.
Please note: A screenshot is also included on the worksheet to show you what your
own chart should look like.

6
Do the following:
 Add the text ‘Platform’ as the vertical axis title.
 Remove the gridlines.
 Fill the chart area with a solid white colour.
 Add data labels in the positions shown in the example.

2.2 Insert a formula in cell D18 to calculate the total amount of data used in the month
by all the schools, in Terabytes.
Please note:
– The information you will need is stored in column H in the Survey worksheet,
in Gigabytes.
– There are 1024 Gigabytes in 1 Terabyte.

Now work in the Survey worksheet.

2.3 Make the following formatting changes:

2.3.1 Format the merged cells A2 and B2 so that they appear as shown below,
by following the instructions under the screenshot. (Do not change any
colours.)

Do the following:
 Wrap the text in merged cell A2.
 Centre-align the text in merged cell A2 vertically.
 Display the border between merged cell A2 and merged cell B2.
 Change the orientation of the text in merged cell B2 as shown in the
example.
2.3.2 Ensure that any values in column H that are 500 or more, are displayed in
a red font colour automatically.

2.4 Insert a function in cell I4 that will display the text ‘high’ if the value in cell H4 is
500 or more.
If the value in cell H4 cell is less than 500, nothing must be displayed in cell I4 (i.e.
the cell must remain blank or ‘empty’).

2.5 Indications of which e-learning platforms are used by schools are stored in
columns C–G. (A ‘Y’ in a cell means that the platform is used by the school.)
The number of schools surveyed is stored in cell L2.
Insert a function in cell L4 to calculate the percentage of schools that use Google
Classroom (column E).

7
2.6 The internet connection types (fibre, ADSL or 4G) of the different schools are
stored in column A.
A hash symbol (#) in a cell means that the school does NOT have any of these
three connection types.
Insert a function in cell L7 to determine the number of schools that have one of the
three connection types (fibre, ADSL or 4G).

2.7 The function in cell L11 correctly determines the number of schools that use fibre
for their internet connection.
 Change the function in cell L11 to ensure that the user can copy this function to
cells M11 and N11, without making any changes, to determine the number of
schools that use ADSL and 4G.
 Copy the function in cell L11 to cells M11 and N11.

2.8 Insert a LARGE function in cell L15 to calculate the second highest amount of data
used by a school in a month.
Use a function to round the result to a whole number (i.e. without decimal places).

2.9 Insert a SUMIF function in cell L18 to calculate the total amount of data (GB) used
by schools with a fibre connection.

2.10 The data shows that if a school uses only one platform (columns C–G), then that
platform is WhatsApp.
Insert a function in cell L22 to determine the number of schools that use only the
WhatsApp platform.
Tip: Use the fact that the number of platforms used by each school have already
been determined, and are stored in column P.

Now work in the Connection Types worksheet.

2.11 Ensure that row 1 will always remain visible if the user scrolls down through the
rest of the worksheet.

2.12 Ensure that, if the worksheet is printed,

 the column headings in row 1 will repeat on each printed page
 the output will be centred horizontally on the page.
Please note: Do NOT print anything!

2.13 Use the SUBTOTAL function to determine the total number of learners that use
each internet connection type (4G, ADSL, fibre).

Save and close the 2Survey spreadsheet.

8
Question 3 – Database

Open the 3Admin database, which has been created to help with the administration.

3.1 Open the Evaluation table in Design View.

3.1.1 Set a Primary Key on the ID field.
3.1.2 Change a property of the Learner field, so that the user cannot leave this
field blank.
3.1.3 Edit the combo box of the Area field so that when the user opens the combo
box, the items will be displayed as follows:

 Add only the following fields: CellNo, Category, Years_Exp.
 The query must only show the records of teachers (Category field) who have
more than 3 years experience (Years_Exp field).

9
Save and close the qry3_2 query.

10
3.3 Open the qry3_3 query in Design View.
Display only those records of supporters where the following conditions are met:
 The records must include only parents and teachers (Category field).
 The parent/teacher must be able to work on a weekend (Weekend field).
Save and close the qry3_3 query.

3.4 Open the frm3_4 form in Design View.

 Remove the background colour from the form header. (The colour must appear
as in the rest of the form.)
 Insert the image 3Handshake in the form header.
 Change the label in the form header, so that the border has a ‘shadow’ effect as
follows:

 Format the Years_Exp field so that its contents appear centred when viewed in
Form View.
 The amounts in the Sponsorship field are currently displayed as hash symbols
(###) when viewed in Form View.
Make the necessary changes so that the amounts are displayed, for example,
as follows:
R125.00
 Insert your name in an appropriate control in the form footer.
Save and close the frm3_4 form.

3.5 Create a report called Sponsorships, based on the Sponsorships query.

Do the following to answer this question:
 Create the report, displaying all the fields in the query.
 Group the records by the Category field.
 Sort the records by the Supporter field, in ascending order.
Save and close the Sponsorships report.

3.6 Open the report rpt3_6 in Design View.

Ensure that the highest sponsorship amount will also be displayed in the report.
(Do not format the result.)
Save and close the rpt3_6 report.

Close the 3Admin database.
