About the Institute:
The Society of St. Francis Xavier is a multifaceted trust, well equipped to cater to educational and
social needs by judiciously combining the resources at their disposal. Our Polytechnic is one such
institute in Bandra Complex. The Polytechnic has been granted an Academic Autonomy by
Government of Maharashtra in appreciation of all-round excellence. It has successfully developed an
innovative curriculum by interacting with various industries in and around Mumbai, Pune. It has also
been accredited for 5 years by the National Board of Accreditation, which stimulates the quality
parameter in technical education and monitors the same.

With a state-of-the-art infrastructure and a highly skilled, motivated and dedicated faculty and
supporting staff at its command, Polytechnic has been, and still is providing outstanding technical
expertise in the Production Engineering and allied fields to its students. The industrial exposure
received by our students is of the highest order. The curriculum evolved under Academic Autonomy
is specially designed to fulfill the needs of the industry in supervisory and the lower management,
dealing in the areas such as Production, Quality Control, Design, Tool Design and Basic
Management. I short; our students are tailor-made ready to serve the industries.

The present curriculum contains application-oriented subjects like Computer-Aided Design,


Computer Aided Manufacturing and Computer Integrated Manufacturing – just to name a few.

Our CAD/CAM Department is equipped with a CNC Lathe, CNC Milling Machine with Automatic tool
changing. CAD Laboratory provides training in modeling using state-of-the-art software such as
AutoCAD, Solid Works and Surf Cam etc.

The CAD/CAM Department runs a Part-time Diploma Course in CAD/CAM which is of 1-year
duration. In addition to core course of part-time Post Diploma Course in CAD/CAM Department also
conducts a number of short duration courses like CNC Turning, CNC Milling, AutoCAD-2D, AutoCAD-
3D, Solid Works CNC Programming, etc.

It would be heartening to note that we have continuous on-going process to interact with our past
students. As a part of this, we have mailed and continue to mail a questionnaire to collect feedback
information from the alumni. The response is indeed encouraging.
First Year Admission Rules

I) Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed the SSC (Std.X) examination of
Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent, with subjects Maths/Mathematics,
General Science and English with minimum 35% aggregate marks. Note: The term ‘aggregate marks’
used here shall mean as follows
A. For Maharashtra State Board Candidates:
I. The candidates who have passed SSC Examination prior to March 2009, the aggregate
marks shall be grand total of marks obtained by the candidate in any 5 subjects where he/she has
scored maximum marks.
II. The candidates who have passed SSC Examination after March 2009, the aggregate Marks
shall be total marks of 5 subjects take n into consideration and mentioned on the Mark sheet.
III. Candidates who have passed Maths/Mathematics (Code 71 for Maharashtra State Board
candidates) and Science & Technology (Code 72 for Maharashtra State Board candidates) are only
eligible for admission
IV. In case marks against sports activities are given on the mark sheet, these shall be added to
the aggregate marks for deciding merit

B. For ICSE Candidates:


a) Student seeking admission on the basis of Group 1 & Group 2 subjects only, the aggregate
marks shall be the grand total of marks in any of the 5 subjects from Group 1 & Group 2 where
he/she has scored maximum marks.
b) Student seeking admission on the basis of Group 1, Group 2 & Group 3, Aggregate marks
shall be the grand total of all subjects from all groups.
c) For CBSE Candidates- The aggregate mark means the grand total of marks obtained by the
candidate, including all subjects as declared on Mark sheet.
d) For CBSE/ICSE Candidates: - In case the result of the candidate is given in terms of
grades, such Candidates are required to submit the graded result into the equivalent marks
authorized from the concerned institute /Board. Candidates passing SSC from other than State
Boards or Central Boards shall bring equivalent certificate from Maharashtra State Board of
Secondary &
e) Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE). Any amendments/Acts/Judgments which may be
published by Government/Hon. Courts of India from time to time will be applicable to Candidates and
Institutes under these rules of admission.

Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS) of AICTE


The salient features of the scheme are: -
• Under the Scheme, 5 percent of sanctioned intake per course shall be available for these
admissions. These seats shall be supernumerary in nature.
• Sons and daughters of parent having annual income of less than Rs. 4.50 lakhs from all sources
shall only be eligible for seats under this scheme.
• The scheme shall be mandatory for all Institutions approved by the council.
• The Waiver is limited to the tuition fee as approved by the State Level Fee Committee for self-
financing Institutions and by the Government for the Government and Government Aided Institutions.
All other Fee except tuition fees will have to be paid by the beneficiary.
• These seats are not available in second shift courses. Tuition Fee Waiver scheme shall be
implemented as follows
• The competent authority to effect these admissions is the State Government or its designated
Authority. State Admission authority shall invite applications under this category, make a separate
merit list for this category and effect admissions on the basis of the merit list so generated.
• All such additional seats shall be treated as TFWS seats of Maharashtra state Quota. These
additional seats will be filled as State Level seats and will be made available to eligible candidates
(Whose names are appeared in TFWS (Merit List) of Tuition Fee Waiver scheme as a separate
choice
• In the event of non-availability of students in this category the same shall not be given to any other
category of applicants.
• Candidates willing to opt for TFWS seats will have to specify their willingness in the option form as a
separate choice code.
• Only Maharashtra State candidates will be ad mitted against such additional seats.
• These seats shall be filled only through Round-I and Round II of CAP process.
• if the competent authority finds that there is inadequate number of beneficiaries available for the
particular course at the institute at the end of CAP Round-II then such seats will not be filled and will
remain vacant.
• List of Technical Institutes having approvals for Tuition Fee Waiver scheme shall be made available
before the submission of option form.
• The Institutions should publish in their brochure and web site the number of tuition fee waivers
available in each category in each course/division.
• The Competent Authority will prepare merit list of applicants from eligible students and will effect
admissions strictly on merit basis.
• A letter in this respect shall be issued by the Competent Authority for admissions to Each
beneficiary.
• Students admitted under this scheme shall not be allowed to change Institution/ Course under any
circumstances.
• The competent authority and Institutions will display the information regarding Admitted candidates
in their respective web sites for information to the students and other stakeholders.
• Candidates willing to opt for these additional TFWS seats will have to submit income Certificate
stating that his/her parent’s annual income is less than Rs. 4.50 lakhs from all sources from the
appropriate competent authority of the Maharashtra State. Candidate admitted under this seat will not
be eligible to get the benefit of any other Scholarship or Freeship though they are belonging to any
reserved category.

Direct Second Year Admissions-:


Eligibility Criteria: -
Candidate should be Indian National and must have passed HSC Science or HSC (Bifocal/Technical)
or HSC (Vocational/MCVC) Examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher
Secondary Education or SSC with 2 years duration ITI/ITI COE with 3 modules with appropriate
specialization or its equivalent
Note:
• Candidates with HSC vocational (MCVC) or 10+2 ITI/ITI COE should have passed SSC (10th Std)
or equivalent examination with subjects English, Mathematics (Code 71) and Science (Code 72)
• Eligibility of the student for the specific branches of Diploma programs shall be as per MSBTE
guidelines prescribed in the Information Brochure.
• Other than Maharashtra State Candidates are not eligible for admission under CAP.
