1. Hera is one of the most interesting Olympian gods in Greek mythology. She was
known to be the goddess of women, marriage, childbirth, and family. However, behind
these ideal descriptions, she was exploited and forced into marriage because her
brother, Zeus, tricked her. Zeus transformed into a cuckoo because he knew Hera had a
great love for animals. After Hera took him inside, he transformed back into himself and
raped her. They had seven children, and it was believed that some of them were made
without union with Zeus. As time passed, Hera remained faithful to Zeus, but he was the
opposite. He had several extramarital affairs with other goddesses and mortal women.
As a result, Hera became a nagging, vengeful, and possessive wife. He cursed and
tortured his mistresses and his illegitimate children. As she was known to be the queen
of gods and the most beautiful immortal of Olympus, she became obsessed with her
beauty, and anyone who threatened her beauty must be cursed.

2. As I prepared to fully understand the characteristics of Hera, I did a lot of research

about her appearance and the reasons behind her behavior. She has big, captivating,
and beautiful eyes and soft white skin. Some ancient sources says, that Hera is almost
as beautiful as Aphrodite herself. She wears elegant clothes and expensive jewelleries
from head to toe. On the other hand, the reasons behind her behavior are: first, she and
her other siblings except Zeus were disgorged by their father, Cronus, because they
might overthrow him. Her brother, Zeus, saved her; however, she was raped, exploited,
and forced into marriage. I considered her behavior as a nagging, vengeful, and
possessive wife valid because she believed that marriage should have trust and faith.
She had that belief because her foster parents, Tethys and Oceanus, were models of
matrimonial fidelity. As she was considered the queen of Olympus, the first enclosed,
roofed temple, known as the Temple of Hera or Heraion, was dedicated to her.
