Proposed Questions for Survey Questionnaire

 How will you rate your satisfaction towards the teaching methods used by your subject

teachers this school year?, Why did you say so?

 Is there any particular teaching method that none of your subject teachers possesses this

school year that might possibly help you to ace your subjects? Can you elaborate?

 What actions can you recommend to your subject teachers for their teaching methods to be

totally effective for a student like you studying their subject?

 In what ways did their teaching methods have helped you in your studies particularly on the

subjects that you have trouble understanding?

 What type of teaching method that is used by your Subject Teachers this School Year do

you prefer the most? Why?

 Every teacher uses a particular teaching method to help us understand easily the subject

they are teaching. Regardless of the method they use for their subject, will you still learn the

material if every teacher uses different type of teaching method?

 How do your individual learning styles and preferences influence your perception of

different teaching methods?

 Can you identify/enumerate the strengths and weaknesses you perceive in different

teaching methods based on your experiences as a student.

 What factors do you believe influence your attitude towards teacher-student interactions,

and how do they impact your learning outcomes?

 If in one case, the teaching method used by your subject teacher is effective for your part,

what do you think are the factors that are affecting why the same teaching method of that

subject teacher is ineffective for other students?

 What Teaching Methods do you believe your Subject Teachers should work on improving?

Why?

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to explore BNIS Grade 11 Students’ Perception and Recommendation

toward Teaching Methods used by their Subject Teacher this School Year 2023 -2024. Mainly, this

study will try to answer the following questions:

1. Which of the teaching methods used by the respondents' subject teachers is most

beneficial to their understanding of the subjects they must take? And how?

2. What are the suggestions does the respondents can provide to enhance the teaching

methods of their subject teacher this school year 2023 – 2024?

3. Is it vital for their subject teachers’ teaching methods to be effective in helping the

respondents learn anything, or will they learn regardless of what their subject teachers

employ for the subject? How can we say so?

Scope and Delimitation

The scope of our study is to comprehend the perceptions and recommendations of Senior

High School students, particularly in Grade 11 students regarding their opinion about the Teaching

Methods used by their Subject Teachers. This qualitative research is delimited only to the Grade

11 Students in Bucal National Integrated School at Maragondon about their opinions on the

Teaching Methods used by their Subject Teachers this school year. According to Norman Duarte

(2019) there are balances that need to be done while using the traditional and 21st-century

learning methods and that both of the said learning methods need to be suited to every student's

need to ensure that there is effective learning in the classroom. As a phenomenological study, it

determines the perceptions and recommendations of the students about the used Teaching

Methods to them and which of the learning methods benefits them the most. The students are

selected using a simple random sampling technique by picking two respondents per section in

Grade 11 here in BNIS.

In this qualitative research, the researchers act as the tool for gathering information about

the topic. Another useful tool is the survey questionnaires or the guide questions. This is

composed of 10 questions that are connected to our study. Such as; Is there any particular

teaching method that none of your subject teachers possesses this school year that might possibly

help you to ace your subjects? Can you elaborate?, What actions can you recommend to your

subject teachers for their teaching methods to be totally effective for a student like you studying

their subject?. It is crucial to make an interview guide before conducting interview to ensure the

reliability of the data that are collected. The primary source of information about a certain

respondent is a survey made up of questionnaires. Surveys are one tool used to evaluate the

characteristic of people's views and experiences. When done correctly, surveys provide detailed

information about specific topics regarding the teaching methods that students like. The chosen

respondents should react to these questions in order to learn their thoughts on the study. This

study will be validated by the research adviser to recognize the applicableness of the questions
given on the survey to the selected research respondents. It follows by the research rules,

different research ethics, and participant rights.

The data will be gathered through a qualitatively approach interviews and focus group

discussions with Grade 11 Students at Bucal National Integrated School. These methods will allow

us to investigate each student’s perception towards the teaching methods that are employed by

their subject teachers. The main source of the data collected would be the Grade 11 Students at

Bucal National Integrated School. Their own insights, perspective and individual experiences

would be the primary source of the data for this qualitative study. The interview would be

conducted individually or in a group formats, depending on the students’ availability. The interview

could be held into a face to face programs. The gathered data will be secured by eliminating all

personal data to ensure the safety of all participants. Restricting access to data to unauthorized

personnel to avoid the security risk of the Grade 11 students of BNIS, this will be protected by

security passwords. This qualitative study is analyzed by gathering data, such as interviews and

surveys. To organize the details, we will apply thematic analysis to identify the common themes

and patterns in the study.

Significance of the Study

A QUALITATIVE STUDY TO EXPLORE GRADE 11 STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION AND

RECOMMENDATION TOWARDS TEACHING METHODS OF THEIR SUBJECT TEACHERS
IN BUCAL NATIONAL INTEGRATED SCHOOL
General Significance: This phenomenological study has essential implications for developing

and rebuilding teaching methods used by respondents’ subject teachers, and for research

institute’ advantage. By exploring the perceptions and recommendations of the selected grade

11 respondents regarding their subject teachers' teaching methods, the researchers hopes to

provide valuable results that can give a significant impact for shaping teaching methods used by

the teachers here in Bucal National Integrated School. Understanding the opinions of the

respondents towards the topic this research wish to explore, it could possibly help improve the

ineffective teaching methods employed by the subject teachers of the respondents during this

school year.

Background of the Study
Because the Covid Epidemic swept our globe years ago, many aspects of our life have

abruptly changed. One of those changes affected our Teaching Modalities for School. And we all

know how this transformation has influenced our learning capability throughout the years. Some

teaching methods are effective for others, some are not, and because of the sudden change,

some of the Teaching Modalities used during the pandemic are continuously employed up to now.

And teachers nowadays use different types of teaching methods for their subject to be more

effective for everyone, including old approaches used during the epidemic such as online learning

and modular learning. And we cannot deny that not everybody learns using those methods they

employed.

"Perception of medical students towards online teaching: A questionnaire study" 1. The

objective of the study is to determine the perception of medical students towards the new learning

modality which is the online teaching during the lockdown. The study provides questionnaires on

150 first-year medical students from Adichunchanagiri Institute of medical sciences. From the

responses gathered, students prefer the traditional method of teaching such as lecture,

discussion, etc. over online classes because of some issues they faced during their sessions. The

study also found out that students are more inclined towards face-to-face learning rather than e-

teaching due to various issues.

Exploring students' perceptions and recommendations towards teachers' teaching

methods might assist to build and shape better teaching modalities that could possibly benefit

every student. And it is the one that this study wished to conduct, because this study’s main

objective is to explore the perceptions and recommendations of the selected grade 11

respondents regarding their subject teachers' teaching methods. The researchers’ hopes to
