• In order to empower women in the tourism sector, the Maharashtra Cabinet approved the
implementation of the 'Gender Inclusive Tourism Policy called 'Aai' under the 'Ajadi Ka Amrit
Mahotsav'.
• The policy will be implemented through the Directorate of Tourism and Maharashtra Tourism
Development Corporation in coordination with various schemes of all concerned departments.
PM launches ‘Maha Jansampark’ campaign in Rajasthan
• PM Modi will launch "Maha Jansampark" by addressing a public meeting in Ajmer, Rajasthan.
• Under this Maha Jan Sampark, scheduled to be held from May 31 (today) to June 30, extensive
public programmes will be done across the country after the completion of 9 yrs at the Centrer.
Bihar Cabinet approves change in liquor prohibition law
• In Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has approved the amendment in the Bihar Prohibition and
Excise (Amendment) Act, 2022.
• Under this, the concerned authorities can now release the vehicles seized in violation of the
prohibition law in the state after recovering 10 percent of their insured value or Rs 5 lakh as fine
from the vehicle owner after due consultation with the judicial authority.

Birmingham's Lord Mayor.
• Lal, who is from the Ravidassia community of British Sikhs, was born in the village of Pakhowal in
Hoshiarpur and later moved to the United Kingdom in 1964.
• He is a Labour Party leader who was first elected to Soho and Jewellery Quarter ward in 1994.

• Bola Tinubu has become Nigeria's president, succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari.

India extends $1 billion credit line to Sri Lanka till March 2024

govt.
• An Amendment Agreement was signed to extend the tenure of a USD 1 billion Credit Facility in
Sri Lanka.
• The credit line has been extended until March 2024, providing further financial support to Sri
Lanka.
• India is assisting Sri Lanka with a comprehensive package of USD 4 billion.
UAE announces 13 year Space Mission to explore asteroid belt
• The United Arab Emirates (UAE), on 30 May 2023, announced plans for a groundbreaking space
mission called MBR Explorer.
• The mission will explore the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter and will be launched in
March 2028.
• The mission will cover a distance of 5 billion kilometers over a 13-year expedition.
• The MBR Explorer will conduct close flybys of seven asteroids in the belt.

• The scheme, Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Yojana, was approved at a Cabinet meeting chaired
by CM Eknath Shinde.
• It is an all-inclusive crop insurance scheme and will be implemented through a tender process for
a period of three years.

• Anti-Tobacco Day or World No Tobacco Day is observed on 31 May every year across the globe
to make people aware and educate them about the harmful effects of tobacco on health.

• This also includes Rs 70,000 crore of urea subsidy earmarked in the Budget for the Kharif season

Oil Ministry panel proposes ban on 4-wheeler diesel vehicles by 2027
• India should ban the use of diesel-powered four-wheeler vehicles by 2027 and switch to electric
and gas-fuelled vehicles in cities with more than a million people and polluted towns in order to
cut emissions, an oil ministry panel has recommended.
• India, one of the biggest emitters of green house gases, wants to produce 40% of its electricity
from renewables to achieve its 2070 net zero goal.

US: FDA approves world's first RSV vaccine for older adults
• The United States Food and Drug Administration has approved the world's first Respiratory
Syncytial Virus - RSV - vaccine that is meant for older adults.
• However, the vaccine still needs approval from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
before it can be rolled out to the public.
• The vaccine was found 83 percent effective against diseases caused by RSV.

• The authorities of the Guinness World Records handed over a certificate to Jayanta Baruah, the
publisher of the Braille version of Hemkosh.
• The 123-year-old Hemkosh is the 1st etymological dictionary of the Assamese language based on
Sanskrit spellings, compiled by Hemchandra Baruah.
Nagaland Govt creates a new Directorate of Minority Affairs
• Nagaland Government has created a new Directorate of Minority Affairs under the Planning and
Transformation Department.
• The new Directorate will manage the various schemes and programmes under the Union Ministry

• The STR first reported the presence of melanistic tigers in 2007.

• The insurer has tied up with YES Bank to facilitate the collection of premiums in digital mode using
the bank’s e-rupee platform.
• e-rupee is a digital token, equivalent to a banknote, and is a sovereign currency backed by the
RBI.
Three new wildlife conservation reserves declared in Rajasthan
• Rajasthan’s Forest Department has announced three new conservation reserves that will protect
the rare and endangered wildlife of Rajasthan.
• These three new wildlife conservation reserves are Sorsan in Baran, Khichan in Jodhpur, and
Hamirgarh in Bhilwara.
• With these three new additions, now there are 26 wildlife conservation reserves in Rajasthan.
PM Modi launches book 'Saurashtra-Tamil Sangamprashastih'
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the closing ceremony of the Saurashtra Tamil
Sangamam in April 2023.

• NPCI Bharat BillPay Ltd (NBBL) has launched the NOCS platform.
• It will provide reconciliation and settlement services for transactions undertaken on the Open
Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) network.
• The NOCS platform is integrated with banks, fintechs and e-commerce players, and will soon go
live with the first set of five banks.
