III. ACTIVITIES
Activity 1: Review/Drill (5 mins)
Guessing game: The teacher will present numbers from 1000 to
billions (random numbers) through power point presentation and the pupils
will guess the number being presented. After guessing the number, they will
then have a contest in writing the number in words on the strips of cartolina.
What to do/ask (Teacher):
 I will group you into four groups. Let us have a contest. I will
present numbers and you will guess the number presented. The
group who got the correct answer first will have one point.
Additional point will be given to the group who can write the
number in words on the strips of cartolina first.

10,000 20,300 986,123

1,000 5,678 1, 000,000

1,000,000,000 986,123
What to do (Learner):
 Identify the names of each numbers given.

Activity 2: Mathematical Language/Vocabulary Development (5

mins)

what to do/ask (Teacher)

 Call a volunteer to pick a rolled paper inside a jar and he/she
will read it loudly. The group will then write the number in
figure on a strip of cartolina and raise their answers.

What to do (Learner):
 Provide the numbers in figures corresponding to the number of
words read.

 Activity 3: Presentation & Discussion of Skill #1(20 mins)

 Use a power point presentation or an activity sheet to
accomplish, “what to do (Learner)”.
What to do (Teacher):
 Group Activity. Group pupils into four groups.
 Each group will be given a problem that will be presented in
front of the class.
Sarah has saved up money to buy a new bike. She has Three thousand, two
hundred forty-five pesos in her piggy bank. If the bike she wants cost One million,
thirty-four thousand, five hundred sixty-seven pesos, how much more money does
she need to save to buy the bike?

What to ask (Teacher):

Let the students answer the following questions:
1. How much money does Sarah saved up (in
figures)?
2. How much is the cost of the bike (in figures)?

What to do (Learner):
 Share ideas in the group.
 Answer collaboratively the word problem.
 Come up with an answer on the given problem.
 Group output be presented in the class.

Answer: 1. Php. 3,245

2. Php. 1, 034, 567
3. Php. 1, 034, 567 - Php. 3,245 = Php. 1, 031, 322
(One million, thirty-one thousand, three hundred twenty-two).

 Activity 4: Presentation & Discussion of Skill #2 (20 minutes)

Recite addition facts (adding 8, 9 and 10) up to 10 and Recite
subtraction facts (subtracting 5, 10, 15, 20, 50, 100) up to 1 000. 6.1-6. 13

 Present and discuss the lesson on reciting addition facts (adding

8,9 ) up to 10
 Present and discuss the lesson on reciting subtraction facts
