Proper lighting This one seems quite obvious. Good lightening, both
inside and outside, might discourage a criminal men from trying to
break in at night. At the very least, all building entrances should be
brightly powered.

Environmental events are incidents or situations that affect the
environment. These events, whether natural or man-made, have the
potential of affecting ecosystems, biodiversity, climate, and other
environmental components.
Environmental events can refer to a wide range of incidents that
affect the natural environment. These events can be natural or
created by humans.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL EVENTS:
Natural disasters:
*Hurricanes, typhoons, and cyclones - are powerful tropical storms that produce
high winds and heavy rainfall.
*Earthquakes - are the shaking of the Earth's surface produced by tectonic plate
movements.
*Floods - are the overflow of water onto typically dry ground, which is usually
caused by excessive rainfall, storm surges, or the melting of snow and ice.
*Wildfires - are uncontrolled burning in woods or grasslands that are typically
worsened by dry weather and strong winds.
*Tornadoes - are violently spinning air columns that extend from
thunderstorms to the ground.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL EVENTS:
Human-made Events:
*Industrial accidents - involve chemical spills, leaks, and mistakes in
manufacturing or production facilities.
*Pollution - incidents are classified as the release of chemicals into the
atmosphere, water, or soil as a result of numerous human activities.
*Deforestation - is the massive elimination of forests, typically for
agricultural, logging, or growth in cities.
*Oil spills - are the accidental release of oil into marine or land-based
areas, usually as a result of transportation or mining activities.
*Nuclear accidents - are tragic incidents that result in the discharge of radioactive
materials.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL EVENTS:
Biological Events:
*Epidemics and pandemics: are diseases that spread among nature,
animals and humans.
Environmental Policy and Regulatory Events:
*International offers: are negotiations and agreements
between countries to address global environmental challenges.
*Environmental Regulations: The implementation of laws and policies
that govern and minimize environmental damage.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL EVENTS:
Climate Change Related Events:
*Extreme weather occurrences: such as heatwaves, droughts, and heavy rains,
are frequently related to climate change.
*Melting Ice and Rising Sea Levels: The melting of mountains and polar ice
caps contributes to rising sea levels, which affect shorelines and
ecosystems.
Waste disposal
A huge volume of garbage is generated and dumped into the oceans. Nuclear
waste, along with plastic and electrical trash, is highly hazardous.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS:
Loss of biodiversity
Human activity is driving the worldwide loss of species and habitats. This
affects natural processes such as fertilization and endangers ecosystems,
especially coral reefs.
Deforestation
The removal of trees to create way for residential, industrial, or
commercial projects reduces oxygen production and has an impact on
temperature and rainfall.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS:
Ozone layer depletion
Pollution from chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in the
atmosphere eliminates the ozone layer, which protects
the earth from damaging UV rays.
Nuclear accidents
Accidents and disasters at nuclear facilities can result
in an explosion of radioactive materials, causing long-
term environmental and health dangers.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL THREATS:
Water pollution
is the contamination of water sources such as rivers, lakes, seas,
and groundwater due to chemicals such as industrial discharges,
agricultural runoff, and inappropriate waste disposal.
Climate change
is the swelling of global temperatures caused by human activities
such as the use of fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial
processes, which has resulted in severe weather conditions,
increases in sea levels, and ecosystem changes.

Environmental controls involve OF many methods and
techniques used to monitor and regulate the environmental
conditions within a specified space. These controls are
essential in a variety of situations to maintain individual
comfort, safety, and efficiency, as well as the protection of
equipment and materials.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS:
REGULATORY MEASURES:
1. Regulatory Measures: Implement and enforce laws and
regulations addressing environmental challenges such as
pollution control, waste management, and resource
conservation.
2. Facilitating and Safety: Require industries and enterprises
to get permits and comply to strict environmental
requirements before operating.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS:
LAND-USE PLANNING:
1. Zoning Regulations: Create zoning rules to govern land
use and avoid inappropriate development in
environmentally sensitive areas.
2. Urban planning is the process of planning and designing
cities and communities to reduce their environmental
effect, promote sustainability, and conserve green
spaces.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS:
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:
1. Sustainable Resource Use: Encourage environmentally
friendly practices in agricultural production,
forestry, and fisheries to ensure responsible use of
natural resources.
2. Protected Areas: Create and manage protected areas
to help preserve biodiversity and ecosystems.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS:
WASTE MANAGEMENT:
1. Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle: Encourage trash
reduction, material reuse, and recycling to help
reduce the amount of waste produced.
2. Hazardous Waste Regulations: To avoid land and
water contamination, implement regulations guiding
the correct disposal and management of hazardous
waste.
TYPES OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS:
ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION:
1. Public Awareness: Education programs can help
raise public awareness and knowledge of
environmental issues.
2. Training Programs: Encourage companies and
individuals on sustainable practices and
environmental protection.
