Get to hear everyone play last weeks tune
How to practice scales, different ways to keep it fun and interesting
How to begin improvising, keeping it simple, using a few notes.
Recommended listening to get them hearing great saxophone players

Lesson 3a Beginner Group


Review Lesson 2
Hear everyone play last weeks tune and make suggestions
Talk about Articulation, how to play notes short and long and how to use them in songs we
have already learned
Introduce another two notes F# and C#
New Song Down By the Riverside

Lesson 3b Intermediate Group


Review of Lesson 2
Hear everyone play and improvise.
Talk about rhythm and improvising with rhythm.
Articulation, how we play notes long and short and using them in improvisation
Combining different elements like articulation and rhythm in our improvisation.
Lesson 4a Beginner Group
Review Lesson 3
Hear everyone play last weeks tune and make suggestions
Introduce dynamics and how to practice them and then use them in songs
Introduce another two notes Eb and low C#
Talk about easy major scales and how to practice them.
Get everyone to revise the three tunes we have already learned, giving them ideas about
dynamics and articulation and how to use them in the songs

Lesson 4b Intermediate Group


Review of Lesson 3
Introduce the very basic idea of chords and how they are formed/what they are, and how to
practice them like scales
Introduce to the Blues and an easy Blues Tune C Jam Blues. Talk about very easy ways to
improvise over the blues form.
Give a few different blues songs for class to listen to, to hear the sounds and what it sounds
like.
