This document contains 8 questions assessing knowledge and understanding of physics concepts like acceleration, displacement, speed, velocity, and their relationships. The questions range from levels 1-2 to 7-8 in difficulty. They include: 1) Defining acceleration and displacement and stating their SI units 2) Interpreting a distance-time graph to find speed between points 3) Calculating speed from the formula using given distances and times 4) Distinguishing between distance and displacement using a diagram of a train route 5) Analyzing speed from a stopwatch time and distance data table for a moving train 6) Choosing and explaining the speed represented by different objects on a line graph 7) Analyzing the velocity

Criterion A: Knowledge and Understanding

Section A
1) State a)acceleration
b) Displacement (level 1-2)
2) State the SI unit of the following physical quantities.
a) Mass
b)Current (level 1-2)

3) Fig shows a distance-time graph for a moving object. (level 3-4)

Interpret the graph and find out the speed of the object between points
(i) A and B
B and C.
(ii) Acceleration of the object is positive between A and B . comment.

4) Recall the formula triangle and calculate the speed of an object. (level 3-4)

a) 100 m in 20 seconds

b) 48 m in 4 seconds
Section B
5) Figure 1 shows the route taken by the train. (level 5-6)
Figure 1 has been drawn to scale.

Figure 1

a) Outline the difference between distance and displacement.

b) The distance the train travels between A and B is not the same as the
displacement of the train. explain

6) A passenger in a train notes the time on a stopwatch as the train passes posts which are
spaced 5 kilometers apart beside the track. Here are his results: (level 5-6)

Distance travelled/kilometres 0 5 10 15 20 25

Reading on stopwatch /seconds 0 200 390 570 740 900

a) Evaluate the data and answer which of the
following was the train doing?

Going at constant speed, speeding up steadily,

slowing down steadily, speeding up then slowing
down, slowing down and then speeding up.
Explain you answer.
7) Read the following graph and explain your choices in the line graph for whom you choose the
speed. (level 7-8)

A- A fat man walking

B- Speed of a dog
C- Speed of super car
D- Speed of normal car
E- A man running.

7) A student uses a stopwatch to time a runner running around a circular track. The runner runs
two laps (twice around the track). The diagrams show the reading on the stopwatch when the
runner starts running, at the end of the first lap, and at the end of the second lap (level 7-8)

the velocity at the start is 10 m/s and reaches to 10 m/s at the end of the first lap and 10 m/s
from the first lap to the second lap. Analyse and evaluate about the acceleration of the runner .

8) Which scenario is worse? Explain your answer: (level 7-8)

a) A car travelling at 10 km/h and colliding with a parked car.
b) A car travelling at 70 km/h and colliding with a car doing 60 km/h in the opposite
direction.
