Did you know that studies have confirmed expressing
gratitude makes us happier?

Defining gratitude
• Gratitude is a reciprocation of kind feelings; it is an
attitude of gratefulness. Expressing gratitude is
more than an inner benevolent feeling, which brings
a calming effect to all of us. It’s the exchange of good
and positive thoughts that develop relationships.
Expressing gratitude involves thanking someone for
their help, care, and interest in one’s wellbeing.
Research indicates that gratitude is even more
valuable when you express it.

A. My Gratitude Jar
• Using the jar, draw/write things you are grateful for
or to whom they are grateful.

B. Class Gratitude Wall

• The Class Gratitude Wall could call it a “board of
thanks.” Encourage the students to express their
appreciation by drawing/writing things, people,
places, events, etc. that they are thankful for. Allow
them to “pin” these to the board to create a powerful
visual for all students.

challenging times. It is often during these moments
that we tend to overlook the positive aspects of our

draw strength from our experiences. Topics to
explore could include the power for growth, turning
obstacles into steppingstones, and finding gratitude
within painful circumstances.

strengthening our relationships. By expressing
appreciation and recognizing the efforts of others,

everyday moments. This topic can delve into living
intentionally, finding joy in the little things, and
appreciating the present moment. Discussing the
significance of gratitude in relation to personal
success, happiness, and overall fulfillment can also
