GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR REMOTE PROCTORED

EXAMINATIONS OF DIRECTORATE OF ONLINE EDUCATION

For appearing in the examinations students should have access to the following things
- Desktop/Laptop (Windows) with webcam & microphone in good
working condition.
- Active Internet connection with good speed.
- Google Chrome installed in the Desktop/Laptop.
Check your computer compatibility for appearing in the examinations using
thebelow links.

The Minimum Configuration required for desktop/ laptop which will be used
forappearing examinations is given below:

Other Critical Requirements:


• Secure browser (SEB Lite) application is Mandatory to appear for the
examination.
• Secure browser (SEB Lite) application is to be installed in your Desktop/
Laptop.
• Use the installation guideline provided as part of this guideline to install (SEB
Lite) application. Refer Annexure-1
• The URL (link) to download Secure browser (SEB Lite) application will be
published by university one week prior to the start of the examination
schedule.
• Latest version of Google Chrome browser (Mandatory).
• Exam will run only when both webcam and microphone are enabled in the
Desktop or Laptop.
• Ad Blocker should be switched off and auto password save should also be
disabled.
• Enable Cookies setting in Chrome.
• JavaScript must be enabled.
• Disable browser extensions except -Adobe Acrobat, Docs, Sheets and Slides
• Virtual desktop and extended monitor to be disabled.
• All applications that use camera, microphone and screen sharing should be
switched off during examination.
• Popup Blocker should be turned off.
• Clear Browser Cache before start of the test.
• Launch SEB Lite from the icon on the desktop.
• Should have Admin access of computer to enable & disable required tab.
• Ensure you are taking exam in a room with proper lighting with minimal
background noise.
• While capturing photo ensure no objects / obstacles are behind you.
• In case your exam page crashes, you must re-try to launch SEB Lite and use
credentials only after 3mins to resume your examination.
• Disable Antivirus and Internet security software
• If the system has an active Firewall, it must be turned off during the
examination.
• Close all third-party settings to ensure seamless examinations.
• The system should have a screen resolution at 1024*768 only
• Login to the Examination portal within 10 minutes of scheduled
examination timings to avoid losing time from your allotted exam duration.
DO NOT start the examinations if your desktop/laptop does not meet the
above requirements.

*Due to the limited number of seats available in each batch, the Online
Examination Booking System (OEBS) will work on first come first serve.

• Indian candidate must show his/her Aadhar ID or any Govt. Id (voter Id/
Pan Card) to the proctor. For Non-Indian nationals, Passport is mandatory.
Preparation of Remote proctoring Examination
• You can appear once for Practice/Mock examinations using university
provided credentials and get familiarized with remote proctored online
examinations.
• URL (link) for Practice /Mock will be published by university prior to the start
of the mock examination schedule.
• You must use the same Laptop/Desktop which was used for Practice/ Mock
examinations to appear for all the examinations of this session.

How to take Remote proctored Examinations?


Follow the steps mentioned below to appear for the examination.
• Click the SEB Lite tool application to load the examination system.
• The Log-in screen will appear in the system.
• Enter the username and password as shared by through the email/SMS and
complete the login process
• After login, read the instruction and select on “I Confirm that I have
understood all the instructions” and then Start Exam
• After reading the rules select “I have read and agree to the terms” and then
click on Next
• Click on Allow for Enabling the camera and Microphone
• Select “Your entire Screen” and then click on Share
• After all equipment check, click on Select
• After Capturing Photograph, click on Next
• Once all requirement checks done you can see the examination page.
• Do not click on “Stop Sharing” else your examination will not get submitted
to university.
• Last Question will have Submit button. After Confirmation, click on “Yes” to
complete the exam.

Failing to follow the above steps before starting the examination will lead to
non-Submission of examinations and you will be marked ABSENT.

Troubleshooting during the Examination


• In case of computer malfunction or exam page crash or loss of internet
connectivity during the Examination, you should re-try to login only after 3
minutes to resume your examination.

• Follow the instructions mentioned below to re-start the examination,


▪ Press Alt + esc keys to exit from the Safe Exam
Browser.
▪ Close your application.
▪ Open a new session on the chrome browser.
▪ Click the SEB Lite icon and login with credentials.
▪ Re-Start the examination.
• You may run Repair tool if icons are not visible after coming out from
examination system/ restart the laptop or desktop.

• You shall also receive a technical helpdesk contact details to which you may
call to get any kind of technical support related to Computer system and
software requirement.
Do's and Don'ts for Attending the Online Examination

• The webcam installed should strictly focus on your face straight and your face
should be clearly visible.
• When capturing your photo (for Photo Identity) before the start of exam, ensure
there are no objects behind you. Photograph clicked must be of good quality.
• You must not leave your place for any reason during the exam.
• You must make sure webcam and mic of your system is working properly.
• You should ensure proper lighting in the room.
• Ensure silence in the place/room from where you are appearing for your
examination. Background noise/ music or Television are not permitted.
• Ensure that during the exam your face is fully framed in the webcam, and no
partial or complete exit from the camera's field of view is permitted.
• The face should be in the centre of the webcam's field of view during the entire
session.
• Candidate face should be evenly lit, there should not be light source behind
candidate face.
• You are not allowed to talk to anyone while your exam is being conducted, as
Live monitoring is being done by the university invigilator.
• You must not use headphone, ear buds or any other type of listening equipment.
• You should have your water bottle at your table before start of exam as you are
not allowed to leave the exam screen during the examination.
• Hair, clothing, hands, or anything else should not cover the face area.
• Sunglasses not to be worn during the exam. Only transparent lenses are
allowed.
• There should not be any other people in the room.
• You must not communicate with any person by any means during the exam.
• There should not be voices or noise in the background during the test.
• The exam must be taken in a browser with a full screen window. You cannot
switch to other applications (including another Browsers/Browser-Tab) or
minimize the browser.
• All programs and applications like MS Teams, Zoom etc. that use the webcam,
mic & screen share should not be used during the examination.
• Strictly avoid taking exam in tabs and cell phone.
Unfair Means (Malpractice)

• Examination will be proctored by the University Invigilators in addition to


digital proctoring.

You shall be monitored for entire duration of examination and video; audio and
examination screen are recorded while you are appearing for examinations.
• Ensure that the webcam always focuses you.
• Your examination will be cancelled and will be booked for unfair means according to the
below-mentioned guidelines-
