BENCH CHEERING COMPETITION


Mechanics and Guidelines:
1. Each member of the team must participate.
2. Each performance should have a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum
of 5 minutes long including the entrance and exit.
3. The use of drums and other instruments are allowed.
4. Loudness and clearness of the voice are encouraged.
5. Profanity and other inappropriate language are strictly prohibited.
6. Teams are encouraged to use coordinated props reflecting their team spirit
and creativity.
7. Any violations from the above mechanics will be a deduction of 3 points.

BANNER MAKING CONTEST


Mechanics and Guidelines

Vision
By 2040,
WMSU
1. Every team is required to create a banner that prominently features their
team name.
2. The banner can include artwork or designs that are associated with or
represent the team name.
3. The creation of the banner will take place on March 5, 2024, prior to the
parade.
4. The banner will be showcased during the parade and bench cheering
competition.

Criteria for Judging:


Team Name Representation – 30%
 The banner should effectively display the team name. The creativity and
originality in the way the team name is represented will be considered.
Artwork and Design – 30%
 The banner should include illustrations related to the team name. The
creativity, originality, and visual appeal of these illustrations will be
judged.
Presentation – 25%
 The presentation of the banner during the bench yell will be evaluated.
This includes how ell the banner is showcased and how it complements
the cheer.
Timeliness – 15%
 The banner should be completed and ready for presentation on March 6,
2024, during the parade.

BASKETBALL (Boys & Girls)


Mechanics and Guidelines
1. Each team should consist of at least 5 players, with a maximum of 12 to 15
players including substitutes.
2. A standard game consists of 2 quarters, each lasting 10 minutes. There can be a
short break between each quarter.
3. The team who will WIN after the Two quarters is safe to proceed to the next
game against another team. The team who is defeated
will have the chance to play again on the next round following the bracket (Round
Robin).

2.Serving Order – Singles

a. At the beginning of the game (0-0) and when the server’s score is even, the
serve will begin from the right service court. When the server’s score is odd, the
serve will be from the left service court.

b. If the server wins a rally, the server scores a point and will then serve again
from the alternate service court.

c. If the receiver wins a rally, the receiver scores a point and becomes the new
server. They serve from the appropriate service court – left if the score is odd and
right if it is even.

3. Serving Order - Doubles


a. A team will only have one player serve, per “service”.

b. At the beginning of the game and when the score is even (0,2,4,6, etc.) the
server serves from the right service court. When it is odd (1,3,5,7, etc.) the server
serves from the left service court.

c. If the serving side wins a rally, the serving side scores a point and the same
server serves again from the alternate service court.

d. If the receiving side wins a rally, the receiving side scores a point. The
receiving side becomes the new serving side.

e. The players do not change their respective service courts until they win a point
when their side is serving.

4.The winners of the first game serve first in the next game.

5. Shuttle falling on the lines are considered good.

6. During a rally, a bird that touches the net and goes over is in play.

7. A fault (violation of rules) occurs if:


a. On the service, any part of the racket head is higher than the server’s wrist and
contact is made above the waist.
b. The service fails to cross the net or go into the proper service court.
c. The feet of the server and receiver are not in the proper courts at time of
service.
d. The server hesitates or stops (feint/balk) the service motion or misses the bird.
e. The improper receiver returns the bird on the serve.
f. A bird hit into the net, under the net, against the wall or ceiling is out-of-bounds.
g. A player hits the bird before it crosses the net.

h. The bird touches a player or clothing.


i. The player touches the net while the bird is in play.
j. The bird is hit twice in succession by one/both partners.
k. The bird is held, caught, or carried on the racket when struck.

8. Let (a play allowed to be replayed)


a. The bird becomes caught in or on the net after passing over the net.

5. At 29 all, the side scoring the 30th point wins that game.

6. In the third game of singles and doubles, players change sides when a side
scores
11 points.

7. A match is won by winning two out of three games.

Safety/Etiquette

1. Keep a firm grip on the racket.

2. Be careful not to hit your partner with the racket.

3. Stay in your own court to avoid the possibility of collision with other players.

4. Stop play if other players enter your court.

5. Wait until there is a stop in the action to retrieve a bird from another court.

6. Be aware of the walls and the net posts.

7. Before play, agree on the boundaries and determine the first server.

8. Players call their own lines; replay the point if in doubt.

9. Shake hands after the game/match.

Mechanics and Guidelines

Team Formation

Each team is required to maintain the following during the entirety of the game:

1. One (1) General Manager (required),


2. One (1) Head Coach (optional)
3. Five (5) Players
For their starting lineup (“Starters”)
4. At least one (1) and a maximum of five (5) substitute players (“Substitute”).
The minimum requirement for each team to legitimately function in the game is to
maintain at least five (5) starter players and one (1) substitute, along with a
manager and coach.
5. Selecting a player can be both male and female.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

1. Each team will play ONE BO3s with the other three (3) teams.
2. The ranking of the competition will be determined by points.
3. Three (3) win means 3 points, 2 wins mean 2 points, and 1 win means 1 point.
4. If the standings are one team has 3 points, one team has 2 points and two teams
have 1 point each. The top 2 teams will be automatically fighting for
championship.
5. If the standing are one 3 points, teams have 2 points, and one team has 1 point.
The team who got 3 points will be waiting for the championship match. The two
teams that have 2 points will be fighting for a championship slot.

CHESS

Mechanics

1. Every team should consist of a single player for girls and for boys.
2. The competition will comprise 4 sets of games.
3. The “touch-move” rule will be enforced.
4. The 2 victorious players from each match will proceed to the championship
round, while the 2 defeated players will compete for the third place.

1. To start the game, all Passers must go and try crossing the rectangle back and
forth without being touched by any of the Guards.
2. If anyone succeed, they score 1 point for their team.
3. If a Passer fails as he got tagged, he is out of the game and have to wait until
the next turn.
4. If a Guard tagged a Passer without having his two feet on his line, then it does
not count.
5. Once all Passers have finished (either won or lost), the teams switch roles
(Passers become Guards, and Guards become Passers) for a new turn to start and
complete the round.

B. Luksong Tinik

Mechanics:

1. Each team designates a leader, the nanay (mother), while the rest of the players
are called anak (children).
2. The players chosen to be nanay are usually the ones who can jump the highest.
3. The game involves players sitting on the ground and other players jumping
over parts of their body.

C. Tug of War

Mechanics:

1. An equal number of players (15 players each team) pick up each end of the
rope.
2.The players begin tugging the rope when the referee gives the signal.
3. Each player pulls backwards as hard as they can.
4. The teams continue pulling until the center of the rope (tape mark) crosses
where the referee is standing.
5. The game ends when the referee declares one team has successfully pulled the
past the center.

D. Luksong Lubid

Mechanics:

1. The game is traditionally played with two individuals swinging a rope in a

HOW TO WIN THE GAME: Each players must be finish with home run with the
total score of the team of 6 point. If the team has finally got 6 points, the game is
over.

Guidelines and Mechanics
A. Guidelines
1. The candidates per team must be a bona-fide students of Western Mindanao
State University Tungawan External Campus (WMSU).

2. Candidates must not be part of the mentioned organizations which are USC
President, Vice-President and Senators, BEED Department President and GAD
President.

3. Each team must only have one male and one female representative for the
pageant. The team shall be responsible for handling and screening the
candidates in accordance to the rules and guidelines set by the organizers.

4. The candidates must be present during the rehearsal and shall have three
coordinators (one make-up artist and only two assistants) who will accompany
the candidates during their scheduled pageant.

5. The organizing committee has the right to call the attention of the candidates in
cases of any untoward behavior that would cause disturbance of the scheduled
activity.

comfortable in performing their talent.
