2. Find the coefficient of (2𝑥 3 − 5𝑥 2 + 2𝑥 − 1)(3𝑥 3 + 2𝑥 2 − 9𝑥 + 7)

3. f(x) = 𝑥 3 − 3𝑥 2 + 6𝑥 − 40

a. Show that (x – 5) is not a factor of f(x)

b. Find a linear factor of f(x).

4. The polynomial 3𝑥 3 − 2𝑥 2 − 12𝑥 + 8 is denoted by f(x).

a. Use the factor theorem to show that (x + 2) is a factor of f(x).

b. Factorize f(x) fully.

a. Show that k = 6 if (x + 2) is a factor of f(x)

When f(x) is divided bu (x – 2) the remainder is 36.

When f(x) is divided bu (x + 2) the remainder is 40.

Find the value of a and the value of b.

9. A cubic function is defined in terms of the constant k as 𝑓(𝑥) = 𝑥 3 + 𝑥 2 − 𝑥 + 𝑘, 𝑥 ∈ ℝ

Given that (x – k) is a factor of f(x) determine the possible values of k.

15. Solve the equation 3𝑥 3 + 𝑥 2 − (𝑥 − 1)(𝑥 − 2)(𝑥 − 3) = 12.
