5.2 Safety when using refrigerated containers
When using the container, it is important that you make sure that the door cannot slam shut and
accidentally lock you in.
The various types of doors can all be secured to prevent the door from closing and locking while
you are inside the container. (See also section 6 on shut-in alarm.)

The following safety procedure(s) must always be followed when using all types of refri-
gerated and freezer containers!

STEP 1)
The following procedure must always be followed for all containers of the CE type.
See figure 5.1.1.

Every time you use the container, follow the following procedure:
• Open the container door by pressing in the lock closing device and pulling the door handle
towards you. See figures 5.1.16 - 5.1.17.
• Now open the container door enough for the lock rods to be completely free of the cam keep-
ers at the top and bottom. See figures 5.1.18 - 5.1.20.
• Then press the handle all the way down until the lock closing device clicks and the lock rod
can now no longer move into the cam keeper. Even if the door should now slam shut due to
e.g. high winds or because you carefully close the door while you are inside the container, the
container door cannot lock. See figures 5.1.21 - 5.1.24.

STEP 2)
The following procedure must always be followed for all types of containers AB/AP/AS/CC/
CE/DS. See figures 5.1.1, 5.1.3, 5.1.5, 5.1.7 and 5.1.9.

When the doors are fully opened, it is important that the doors are always secured by the chain
on the door safety hooks on the side of the container. The purpose is to safeguard against unex-
pected accidents with swinging door(s), for example as the result of high winds.

5.4 Internal
• For your safety it is important to use suitable clothing, including correct footwear.
• If the container is set to a temperature of +10C or less, there is a risk of ice or frost accretion on
the non-slip floor.
• The container features internal lighting which should always be on when working inside the
container. It should also be turned off when the container is vacated. Defective light bulbs and/
or fluorescent tubes should be immediately replaced. Remember to turn off the light when
replacing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
• The container must be loaded in a responsible fashion. See below.
• The container should always be clean to maintain a satisfactory internal hygiene level.
• There are four drains - one in each corner - which should not be covered. See figure 5.3.1.

FIGURE 5.3.1 Drain.

TITAN Containers A/S ArcticStore User Manual | Version 1.0 | 09.2020 PAGE 15
THE FOLLOWING IS IMPORTANT TO AVOID THE BUILD UP OF ICE AND
OPERATIONAL DOWN-TIME.

• Goods/cartons should be placed on pallets/in cages for better air circulation. See figure
5.3.2.
• Pallets must be placed at least 30 cm from the refrigeration unit. Do not pack too high -
obey the maximum load height. See figure 5.3.3.
• Always check temperature and defrosting at the same time as the daily own check.
• Only open the container doors if needed while the system is in operation. Where
longer-term access to the container is required, turn off the refrigeration.
• Defrosting is automatic. In the defrosting state, the ventilator fans is stopped and the
container temperature is not affected. For optimum effect, all ice should be gone after
defrosting. Manual defrosting can be selected, contact TITAN to agree this.
• Some models include a “pause” function to be used when the door(s) open(s).

5.5 Accessories
RAMP
Our standard CE type ramps have a load maximum of 500 kg. If greater load ability is required,
please contact TITAN to have a stronger ramp with greater load maximum delivered.
Prior to use, always ensure that the ramp is correctly located in the rails for the purpose.

ACCOUSTIC CABIN
When using a noise reduction cabin, the machine will be completely covered by this.

It must always be connected to electrical supply via the cable included to ensure the required
air circulation, as it must be possible to direct the heat from the machine away from the noise
reduction cabin.

Access to the control box is via an integrated hatch in the noise reduction cabin.
When using a noise reduction cabin, the rotating flasher and siren must be relocated. Please con-
tact TITAN for further information.

SUPPORT LEGS
Containers placed on supporting legs require special safety measures and the installation should
be checked daily before using the container.

Where the container is in an exposed location with particular risk, for example, of supporting
legs being struck by traffic and/or trucks in connection with goods deliveries, supporting legs
should be shielded with concrete blocks or the like.

5.6 Additional safety features

EMERGENCY HATCH
Since May 2019, an emergency hatch has been
introduced on new containers of the CE type
as an additional safety precaution.

For more information, please contact TITAN.

PAUSE FUNCTION
Some new models have an integrated ’pause’ function. When the door to the container is ope-
ned, the system is paused. The system automatically starts again when the doors are closed.
This option is currently only available for new CE units.

For further information, please contact TITAN.
