Instrumentation – measurement of pore pressures - Determination of phreatic line - Stability
analysis – critical stability conditions - Desired values of factor of safety for different loading
conditions of dam - Evaluation of stability by Swedish Slip Circle Method and sliding wedge
method under critical conditions
Earth pressure theories – Rankine‘s and Coulomb’s earth pressure theories for cohesionless
