Grade 4 - Angles
Grade 4 - Angles
M4GE- IIIb- 14
Objective:
After going through this lesson, the learners are expected to describes and illustrate different angles
(right, acute, and obtuse) using models.
What is Angle?
A figure which is formed by two rays or lines that shares a common endpoint is called an angle. The
word “angle” is derived from the Latin word “angulus”, which means “corner”.
What is Ray?
Ray is a part of a line that has one endpoint and goes on indefinitely in only one direction. You cannot
measure the length of a ray.
Naming Ray
Different kinds of Angles
1. Acute Angle
measure less than 90 degrees.
Note:
We measure angle using a protractor.
To measure angles, we use the unit called degrees. (°) is a typographical symbol that is
used, among other things, to represent degrees of arc.
2. Right Angle
When two straight lines intersect each other at 90˚ or are perpendicular to each other at the
intersection, they form the right angle.
A right angle is represented by the symbol ∟.
3. Obtuse Angle
Two angles are called complementary when their measures add to 90 degrees.
6. Supplementary Angle
Two angles are called supplementary when their measures add up to 180 degrees.
How to teach angles to intermediate grades learners?
