Dossier ~
Common Name: Hatzegopteryx
Species: Hatzegopteryx Kukulkan
Time: Late Cretaceous
Diet: Carnivore
Temperament: Highly aggressive

Wild:

“Seeing a flier this large in an isolated ecosystem like this is

extraordinarily rare, if not thought impossible, until today that is,
Hatzegopteryx Kukulkan is a savage monster of the skies. As of writing
this I’m observing it tearing into an unlucky wyvern that dared to
challenge it. Additionally, i’ve seen it attacking and defending itself
from any flier with dangerously quick efficiency. Be it a Wyvern or a
Quetzal, it doesn't care, slugging them on the ground with its heavy
fists or shredding them apart with its massive maw. While not being the
best at flight, combating it in the sky is an unwise decision as it
seemingly has a tactic to effectively grapple a creature out of the
skies and slam it into the earth!”

Domesticated:

“Despite its sheer ferocity, there does seem to be evidence that

it can be domesticated, Hatzegopteryx seems to enjoy the thrill of
battle, even from a young age, so any good adversary that can gain its
respect may let it domesticate it. Though, you’d have to be utterly
insane even to attempt that! All things considered, however, a
domesticated Hatzegopteryx would, in theory, be excellent for taking on
anything on this mountain-trapped ecosystem, along with that, It seems
to be very careless with what survivors attach to its back, I've seen a
saddle that was used as a giant outpost and another that took advantage
of it's fighting power by improving it's flying skills with a strafe
saddle, I wonder if anyone has attempted making a bomber saddle...?
Introduction:

Hello Valguero bros, I present Hatzegopteryx Kukulkan as my submission! This fierce pterosaur
will show you efficiency on both land and sky combat while also giving you an excellent counter
to Wyverns! I hope you enjoy this submission, as it was a collaborative effort with Katana.

Now, onto the summary!

- 1.5-2x the size of a quetzal.

- Possesses three saddle types, Being the Default, the Dash, and Air Superiority saddles

- Can cling to surfaces similar to a Tapejara, but more like it brute forces itself onto the surface
with its strength.
- Has its own unique apex drop called “Hatzegopteryx jaw” This item is required in the taming of
Hatzegopteryx!

4 Saddle Types:

Artwork to be updated
- Base Saddle: This saddle is the default saddle and the earliest one that is unlocked, it has no
positive or negative attributes and performs the basic necessities of the creature

Artwork to be updated
- Carrier Saddle: This saddle is the “platform saddle.” it can be used in many different situations,
like as an Outpost for PvE and PvP settings, PvE mostly being a temporary base when you wanna
go out and explore, or you find a cool tame and need someplace to chill out, you could even spend
your whole journey on one of these attached to the white cliffs. For PvP you could possibly use it
for Paratrouping or something cool like that, it’s primarily intended for PvE and you cannot place
any turrets of any kind, including cannons, and ballistas.
Artwork to be updated
- Strafe Saddle: This saddle takes advantage of the Hatzeg’s abilities on the ground and makes
them better in the sky, allowing for increased movement speed and the ability to dash using the
boosters on the back of the saddle for 2 seconds before overheating becomes a problem and it
needs to cool down for 15ish seconds, this can be used to ambush enemies that threaten you be
them ground-borne or airborne, this saddle is the saddle for physical combat with Haztegopteryx,
taking advantage of it’s ability to slam enemy fliers into the ground and makes it more menacing
to face head on, at the cost of being even weaker to groups of creatures due to the saddle having
less defense than other saddles at this tier.

Artwork to be
updated
- Air Superiority Saddle: The bomber saddle, this saddle is locked behind the boss fight of the
map, this saddle is intended to be used as a ranged attacker saddle, with miniguns on the front
akin to military aircraft and spots for grenades and tek grenades below, due to the weight of the
superiority saddle, the speed boost from the strafe saddle is not inherited, however, the dash is
longer but slower due to a more focused thrust that can be used for up to 4 seconds before it also
begins to overheat and then needs cool for longer than the strafe saddle as not to overheat the
pilot inside.

- Saddle Unlocking level:

Base saddle: 92
Strafe saddle: 98
Carrier Saddle: 98
Air Superiority Saddle: [Tekgram]

Suggested Base Stats:

Health: 1450
Stamina: 700
Oxygen: 150
Food: 1200
Weight: 600
Melee Damage: Found in the “Actions Section” per each attack.
Movement Speed: 100% (Not as fast as a wyvern, though it can sprint faster than a
wyvern on the ground.)
Torpidity: N/A

Wild:

Hatzegopteryx can be seen flying throughout the map hunting all creatures, though if you are
spotted, you will absolutely be targeted. It is most commonly found wherever in the white cliffs.
They may also be rarely found in the snow.

Wild Baby Behavior:

Hatzegopteryx, as babies in the wild share the same aggressiveness that adults do! However, they
are a rare sight to see and have no use for Hatzegopteryx jaws (they do not drop them), and are
unable to be tamed.

Taming Process:

To tame a Hatzegopteryx, you must first challenge it to a fight with a “Hatzegopteryx jaw” in your
inventory, it will sense this and then begin to fight you as it sees you as a worthy adversary. When
it gets to a low enough health point, it will become “tired out.” you must then use this opportunity
to mount it, after that, it will take off into the air, and you must try not to get knocked off by rapid
button mashing! If you fail, you’ll have to fight it again.

- When you start breeding Hatzegopteryx, be wary of the babies, as they will attack you at
random!

Tamed:

Congratulations! You’ve successfully tamed a Hatzegopteryx!

Actions:

- LMB (Or its controller equivalent): Performs a bite attack in the air but able to
hook/punch while on the ground. A more diverse attack set on the ground, able to
hook/punch, while also occasionally biting, akin to how Carchar and Yutyrannus
have multiple attack animations

- RMB (Or its controller equivalent): Locks onto a flier of large enough size
(Argentavis and up) and then proceeds to grapple onto them, this will cause it to
rapidly descend into the ground and slam the enemy, the base damage increases
the higher you go, ranging from 70 at the lowest to 150 at the highest, however
taking 5% of health. Both Hatzegopteryx and the enemy flier will be unable to fly
for a short while as well.

Though this attack can miss and will cost a chunk of stamina and may not be used
immediately after, so it's recommended to only do it on near wyvern sized fliers,
this counts for gliding Rock Drakes or jumping Managarmr as well.

- This attack will also allow you to cling onto the large creatures and shred them
(like a Titanosaur, Dreadnoughtus and the Extinction Titans) and shred them,
which costs heavy stamina to stay on however.

- C (Or controller equivalent): Aesthetic roar.

- Spacebar (Or controller equivalent): Flight

- Shift (Or controller equivalent): Sprinting on both land and sky.

- Looking downwards: Gliding similar to Desmodus. [Except on Carrier saddle

where you cannot dive]

Utility & Scenarios:

PvE: While at first glance Hatzegopteryx may seem to lean far into a PvP niche, it does not, it is
incredibly useful for clearing wyvern trenches possibly living on it. Moreover, it is excellent for
clearing out both sky and ground threats. Additionally, it is perfect to bring along for fights in
scenarios of all kinds, including possibly the boss fight.

PvP: Hatzegopteryx has excellence in a PvP niche as well, being able to effectively tackle other
apex fliers is handy, especially since it is able to close the range between it and a wyvern for
example, moreover it is able to combat Wyverns with its grapple attack, which is cool.

Counter:

Hatzegopteryx is worse at sky combat than ground combat, so you can effectively use a small and
fast flier to dodge its grapple attack. After that, you may attack at it until it can perform another
grapple, though it's still best to watch out for its attacks, as it still does a hefty amount of damage.
It's best to combat a Hatzegopteryx on the ground with an equal ground mount, such as a Rex.
The counter to the Air Superiority Saddle is shooting it with Tek Weaponry as it is also a Tek
saddle or using the throwable Dinopithecus poop to deactivate the Tek Saddle and render the
rider incapable of using its ranged attacks.
Counter 2: Weakness in Numbers

Hatzegopteryx has a very strange weakness; the more of them there are, the weaker they become.
This isn't particularly noticeable when it’s just two or three Hatzegopteryx, but after that, it
quickly starts to become very clear. with more Hatzes, their damage and defense begin to suffer
heavily, and they lose their instincts and their willingness to fight, even if you separate them from
each other, it will take a while for them to fully return to their natural strength if you are using
the Hatzeg as a carrier platform and living on it with other nearby Hatzes this weakness is
negligible as they aren't being used for PvP in this situation, however in PvP, using a fleet of
Hatzeg’s will make them extremely vulnerable to external foes like Wyverns and Rhyinognathas,
so to counter this weakness, I would suggest making a group of 2, maybe 3 Hatzegopteryx for
combat-related activities at maximum.

Tldr: Weak in groups

(babies are unaffected)

Further Reading/QnA: (This is not technically part of the submission, just

further suggestions and explanations for why things in this submission are
the way they are.)

Size in Depth:

Why is the Hatzegopteryx so big? Well, In real life, Hatzegopteryx was the largest flier to ever
exist on Earth, bigger than Quetzalcoatlus and Aramborgiania/Titanopteryx. It was the largest in
weight and in wingspan, with the Quetzal and Arambour having longer necks, obviously on the
ARKs, things are different, so to exonerate the Hatzeg’s status as the apex predator in its own
habitat, I it is the apex of the skies on Valguero, which is isolated in the mountains akin to its
home in Hatzeg Island 66 million years ago.
This is it compared to the Quetzal and Rhyniognatha with the Quetzal having actual posture.

This is the Hatzegopteryx, compared to other apex fliers like the Wyvern and the Rockdrake. The
Quetzal’s neck is smaller due to the fact that ingame it has a smaller neck for some reason, the
previous picture was to illustrate the point that if the Quetzal actually followed the dossier, it
would be around the same size as the Hatzegopteryx

Its place among the flyers:

Part 1:

Hatzegopteryx’s niche doesn't invalidate other large fliers, such as the Wyvern or the
Rhyniognatha, due to being obtained later in the game. It is meant to be the final beast that you
get your hands on, it lacks the breath attacks of the Wyverns (It only has a ranged attack on the
Tek Saddle) or the resin of the Rhyniognatha. It also lacks the ability to carry items like the
Rhynio or make a resin shield.

Part 2:

Quetzalcoatlus, not unlike its relative Hatzegopteryx, has a platform/carrier saddle. However,
Hatzeg’s is larger and, suffice it to say… better, the reason why I added this saddle is that I want a
possible living cliff platform that could be used as an outpost or even a temporary home, one
thing I can see is a tribe making a village of Hatzeg cliff houses that can be moved
interchangeably for some really cool builds, the Quetzal doesn't really achieve anything like this.
As far as I know, Quetzal’s platform is used pretty much for taming creatures and as tool for
picking up creatures (Rhino, Stego, etc.) in PvP, so while yeah, you can probably do those with a
Hatzeg, I have also come to understand that due to the positioning of the Hatzeg platform, it’s
usage as a FOB would be rather limited (for uses of Hatze in PvP, consider the other 2 saddles)
which implies that this Carrier Saddle (for more info on the carrier saddle, scroll down very
slightly) can be used for a more PvE orientated playstyle as opposed to one for PvP, which I
personally feel makes them different enough to co-exist.

Saddle System Elaborated upon:

The saddle system is akin to a skill tree in a way, you have the base saddle which is just a normal
saddle, which you use to unlock the other saddles, the Strafe saddle takes advantage of the
Hatzegopteryx’s physical prowess at the cost of defense, the carrier saddle takes a different path,
taking advantage of the creatures size to be used a place to live, the Air Superiority saddle is the
titular bomber saddle.

Carrier Saddle in Depth:

The Carrier saddle is not like a platform saddle due to it’s ability to rotate depending on the
Hatzegopteryx’s position, be it on the ground or in the air it always remains horizontal with the
ground, making it very smooth indeed.
Air Superiority Saddle in Depth:

The Air Superiority Saddle is, for all intents and purposes, the bomber saddle that has been seen
on many other Hatzegopteryx Submissions and has been personally requested for me to include.
To give it a new and fun spin, it is the Tek Saddle of Hatzegopteryx instead of the standard
saddle, this is due to the ranged capabilities of the saddle possibly being too overpowered without
it being relegated to Tek tier.
This saddle is a double seater, one person pilots while the other controls the main cannons,
however for singleplayer users the cannons also can be used by changing the mode of the saddle
to “Solo mode” however this is not recommended for multiplayer due to the ability to aim better
with 2 people, with one person focusing on flying and the other managing the guns and such

All gernades can be used as well as rockets for the main cannon while the miniguns use minigun
ammo
