Statement of Inquiry Myths help us to gain a perspective on human behavior and
individual and cultural identities
Assessment Title Creating Your Own Myth
Due Date Week of March 4-8, 2024

Assessment Overview The assessment is an opportunity for students to create their


own myths. The students may have their myth set in an
ancient land or use a modern setting. They will use the heroes
cycle to plan their myth but the final story will be written in
class. They will be assessed against criterion C (producing text
) and criterion D (using language )
The word count is 500-700 words
Assessment Instructions Prior to the assessment task :
1. They will review the Heroes Cycle and how it can be
used as an outline to create their own myths.
2. From the myths we read in class the students will
brainstorm how they can use these as a model to
create their own myths.
3. Their myth should include how something came to be
and also reveal an insight into human nature .

Assessment Criteria
Criterion C: Producing text
