Qn. What is human dignity?
Is the treatment of people with value or having self-value.
Qn. What are the elements of human dignity in society today.

Qn. Identify the examples of respect for human dignity at home, school and community.
 Giving and caring for others regardless of who they are.
 Sharing amongst friends and also the community.
 Respecting people especially the old.
 Taking part in one’s duties for both the young and the old.
 Helping the needy, elderly with any activity like house work, food, shelter etc.
 Also paying visits to the sick, prisoners among others as a sign of respect for human
dignity.
 Taking part in charity runs like helping a friend when in need at school, also charity visits
to the sick, old, disabled and the poor.
 Donations to the poor in form of clothes, food, money among others.
 Taking part in church activities, that is to say taking part in church cleaning, participate in
church choir among others.

 Respecting people’s ideas/ opinions and feelings.

Causes of violation of human dignity

Qn. How are different people’s dignity violated at school, homes and in the community.
 Segregation among people like in age, tribe, sex among others.
 Corporal punishment being inflicted on sone people especially the women being beaten
by men, children beaten by parents or administrators at school.
 Over working of other people also promotes human dignity violation.
 Child neglect by parent in homes.
 Child Labour is also a violation of personal rights or human dignity.
 Domestic violence among families.
 Sexual abuse that is to say forced sex among the young ones especially the girls.
 Drug abuse that is to say taking drugs like marijuana, opium among others.
 Too much alcoholism also leads to violation of human dignity.
 Mob justice which later results to sudden death deprives off human life.
 Human sacrifice among the community members.

Importance of respect to one another


Qn. Give reasons why all people should be respected
 All people should be respected because we are all created in God’s image.
 Respect exposes out the sense of morality (bahaviour) among people.
 Teaches people to cope with problems that is to say one gets to understand another and
also help when in problems.
 Helps people to build better relationships with others hence promoting love.
 Allows one to enjoy peace of mind.
 Promotes a positive outlook on life.
 Helps people to achieve a given goal in life.
 Respect helps to make good friends and families in future.
 Help in building self-confidence within an individual.
 Helps one to be objective and open minded.
 People should also be respected because we are all equal in God’s presence and have the
same gift of life.

Being Human

Qn. What is being human?
Being human is the kind of care and concern which promotes self-respect regardless of any
differences.
Being human helps a learner to;
 Develop skills of comprehension.
 Develop cooperative and self-directed learning.
 They acquire values of care.
 Promotes consideration among learners.
 Teaches empathy.
 Develops team work.
 Promotes cooperation.
 There is also respect for one another.

Activity for the learners; Debating on being human.


1. As a class, organize a debate on the motion “being human should not consider one’s
status, level of education or religion.”
2. After the debate, work in groups to prepare a power point or written presentation of the
proposition and opposition point. Make a judgement that is final and fair.

Describing Human and inhuman actions.

Qn. What does it mean to be made in the image of God.
 Genesis 1;26-28
26. And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion
over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth,
and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27. So God created man in in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and
female created he him.
28. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the
earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of air, and
over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

1.This is the book of the generation s of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness
of God made he him;

Qn. Why did God create man in his likeliness.
 So as to be holy.
 To have dominion over His creation.
 So as to worship him.
 God also wanted to work with man.
 God wants to have love for man.
 So as to reproduce, multiply and fill the world.
 So as for man to add on the procreation journey on behalf of God.

The sanctity of Life

Qn. What is sanctity of life?
Sanctity of life is a principle of implied life that is said to be holy, sacred or otherwise of much
value that they are not to be violated.
In simple terms sanctity of life means that life is holy and sacred.
Qn. How is sanctity of life preserved in your community.
Sanctity of life is preserved in the following ways;
 Helping strangers beaten up by robbers.
 Picking and helping abandoned babies.
 Advising one not to abort.
 Covering open pits that people don’t fall in them.
 Teaching the community on the dangers of mob justice because it takes off one’s life.
 Preaching the gospel of God so as to transform people’s hearts to believe in God and also
man being created in God’s image.
 Guiding and counselling those with heavy burdens so as to avoid suicides.
 Talking against human trafficking, child sacrifice and also reporting any cases of a kind.
 Taking part in charity runs which is helping those in need.
 Showing love and kindness for the disabled, aged and many others who are also created
in God’s image too.
Qn. Brainstorm the ways in which sanctity of life is being abused in our communities, school
and country today.
 There are too much mob justice acts today.
 Committing suicide is also an abuse of sanctity of life.
 Abortion by the pregnant girls and women.
 Too much child sacrifice today.
 Human trafficking is also evidenced today.
 Too much child labour.
