14 Check and Adjustment
2-
Central Beam Drift
2Check and Adjustment

If there are changes to the ceiling stand, e.g. caused by a replacement or removal of differ-
ent components, a check of the system and possibly a new adjustment is required.

Parallelism of the X-ray Tube to the Table 0

Must be performed with

• a new table.

Check

1. Position the ceiling stand over the table so that when the light localizer is switched on,
the front edge of the table is lined up with the center of the light cross.
2. Move the stand in the longitudinal direction over the complete length of the table.
3. If the table is aligned, it should move parallel to the center of the light cross. The toler-
ance over the entire length of the table is ± 2 mm.

Adjustment

1. Turn the table at one end until parallelism to the central beam is established over the
entire movement range.

Light Field/Radiation Field on the Collimator 0

Must be performed following

• replacement or removal of the collimator
• replacement or removal of the tube unit.

Check
• Check the difference between the light and radiation fields. The position of the light field
can be readjusted at the collimator.

Adjustment
The adjustment can be found in the CB-Doc under Collimator > Adjustment
(AX74-020.842.01).

Wobbling of the Support Arm 0

Wobbling of the support arm must be checked following

• replacement of the support arm
• removal of the support arm, e.g. following replacement of the suspension of the vertical
axis or of the spring-loaded mechanism.

RAD/FLUORO AXRF-000.842.01.01.02 Page 14 of 44 Siemens

Check and Adjustment 15

Check

1. Position the 3D in the center of the room, between the two transverse and longitudinal
rails.
2. Remove the cover panels on the rear of the support arm (Fig. 2 / p. 15) that cover the
column.

Fig. 2: Suspension of support arm Fully Automated System

3. With a digital spirit level, check whether the support arm is level in the longitudinal and
transverse directions.
The tolerance is ± 0.1 °.

16 Check and Adjustment

Adjustment
Adjustment is made using the wobbling screws. The wobbling screws are comprised of a
securing screw (Allen screw) (1/Fig. 5 / p. 16) and an adjustment screw (hex screw)
(2/Fig. 5 / p. 16).

Check and Adjustment 17

- Loosen the two Allen screws (2/Fig. 6 / p. 16) or (2/Fig. 7 / p. 16) and
(3/Fig. 6 / p. 16) or (3/Fig. 7 / p. 16) (approx. 2 turns).

NOTE As soon as the Allen screw (2/Fig. 6 / p. 16) or

(2/Fig. 7 / p. 16) is loose, wobbling changes as a result of the
unit's own weight!

- Make a correction in the longitudinal direction with the hex screw (2/Fig. 6 / p. 16) or
(2/Fig. 7 / p. 16). With it, the support arm/tube assembly can be lowered or raised.
- Hand-tighten the Allen screws (2/Fig. 6 / p. 16) or (2/Fig. 7 / p. 16) and
(3/Fig. 6 / p. 16) or (3/Fig. 7 / p. 16) and check alignment in the horizontal, trans-
verse as well as in the longitudinal directions.
In the transverse direction of the support arm to the right or left:
- Loosen the two Allen screws (3/Fig. 6 / p. 16) and (3/Fig. 7 / p. 16) (approx. 2 turns).
- Make a correction in the transverse direction with the hex screw (3/Fig. 6 / p. 16) or
(3/Fig. 7 / p. 16). With it, the support arm/tube assembly can be tilted to the left or
right.
- Hand-tighten the Allen screws (3/Fig. 6 / p. 16) and (3/Fig. 7 / p. 16) and check align-
ment in the horizontal, transverse as well as in the longitudinal directions.
3. If the result of the check is okay, hand-tighten the two hex screws (1/Fig. 6 / p. 16) and
(1/Fig. 7 / p. 16).
4. Tighten all Allen screws to 10 Nm and use Loctite 243.
5. Reinstall the cover panels.

NOTE After pivoting the tube unit support arm, alignment of the
tube unit must be checked in the transverse direction.

20 Check and Adjustment

4. Loosen the two screws on the support flange half-cowls (Fig. 13 / p. 20).

Fig. 13: Tube unit support flange

5. The check must be performed for the -90°, 0°, +90° and +180° tube unit support arm
positions. It is possible that an average must be determined between the -90° and +90°
or 0° and +180° positions. Because of this, the drift in the individual positions must be
measured on the floor and a note made of them.
Align the tube unit and check the drift again.

Fig. 14: Vertical tube unit rotation

6. If the drift is within the tolerance, mark the centering cross on the floor, tighten the sup-
port flange screws. Here, make sure that the position does not change when tightening
the screws by observing the mark on the floor.
7. Retighten the set screws (Fig. 11 / p. 19).
8. Retighten the mounting screws for the control element mount (1/Fig. 12 / p. 19) on the
right and left.
9. Reinstall the cover panels.
