1. Am I eligible to apply?
To be eligible to apply you must meet the following criteria:
• Aged 18-32* years on Stage 1 of the testing/selection process
o * A candidate becomes ineligible after reaching the age of 32.
• Indian National or OCI holder
• Minimum academic qualifications: 10+2 with at least 51% in each English, Maths and
Physics
Note: The eligibility criteria for Maths and/or Physics only (must still hold a minimum
51% 10+2 in English) can be overlooked if someone holds a Higher Education Degree
in those subjects with 51% and above, an Engineering Degree or B.Tech (4 year
program) with 51% and above.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal
• Eligible to hold an Australian visa for the purposes of study
• Hold or eligible to hold, an Indian passport with the unrestricted right to live and work in
India and travel worldwide
• Physically fit and healthy.
Note: You will be required to hold an Indian (DGCA) Class 1 aviation medical prior to
LOI signature. In addition, you will require an Australian (CASA) Class 1 aviation
medical with no limitations on arrival at FTA. FTA will assist in making the necessary
bookings for the CASA Class 1 medical tests. A stable body mass index (BMI) of less
than 30 is required.
A minimum of an Indian (DGCA) Class II aviation medical will be required to attend the
selection process, therefore, a DGCA Class II is required for FTA to accept your
application.
A Class I aviation medical is required prior to IndiGo LOI signature or you will not be
able to start on course, it is recommended that candidates complete the Class I as
early as possible. Please advise FTA of any updates after application.
• Eligibility with regard to your testing history
o The IndiGo Cadet Pilot Program has guidelines that apply to all FTOs involved.
These guidelines dictate cooling off periods and maximum attempts that apply to
candidates regardless of which FTO they choose to apply with, the following is a
brief summary:
o Stage 1 (Written tests/PILAPT/CASS/CUT-E)
▪ Maximum of 2 attempts (total all FTOs)
▪ FTA may offer a second attempt - minimum 3-month cooling period

▪ Second attempt allowed with the same FTO without delay.
▪ Minimum 3 months to change to another FTO – Note, should you choose to
change to another FTO at this stage of selection, you will commence with
the new FTO at Stage 1.
o Stage 3 (personal interview)
▪ Maximum of 2 attempts (total all FTOs)
▪ Second attempt allowed – minimum 3 months cooling period
▪ Minimum 3 months to change to another FTO – Note, should you choose to
change to another FTO at this stage of selection, you will commence with
the new FTO at Stage 1.
3. I have not turned 18 yet and/or have not got my 10+2 results yet, can I still apply?
If you are 17 and/or in your final year but have not received your 10+2 results yet, we will
accept your application. You cannot be tested until you meet the eligibility criteria, but we will
register your interest for a later date.
FTA will generally conduct testing every 2-3 months. Future dates are published on the FTA
IndiGo webpage.
When you apply, you are always applying for the next round of testing
11. What happens if I have a confirmed a testing slot and I don’t undertake the test?
If you have a confirmed booking to test and you do undertake the tests, you will be not
eligible to test with FTA at any time in the future.
We will accept cancellation up to 72 hours prior to testing without penalty.
12. I have already completed the DGCA Ground Theory Flight Crew Examinations, can I
still apply?
Yes, if you have already completed these ground theory exams, you will not be
disadvantaged in the application process. A fee reduction may be applicable under certain
circumstances, this is reviewed on a case by case basis.
After Selection
15. Which class of medical certification should I have before the course starts? *
Prior to signing of the LOI with IndiGo, you must be in possession of a valid Indian DGCA
Class 1 medical certificate with no limitations. **
Please refer to the DGCA website for a list of DGCA approved medical centres
Prior to the flying component of your CPL course in Australia, you will be required to hold a
valid CASA Class 1 medical certificate. FTA will organise the Class 1 medical examination on
your arrival at FTA’s facilities.
* Please note that cost of the Indian Class 1 medical certificate as well as any renewals
required are at your own expense. Cost of attaining the CASA Class 1 medical certificate, is
included in your course price.
** A stable BMI of less than 30 is required. Cadets are recommended to remain within the
globally recognised BMI range of 18 to 25 (normal weight category).
On Course
For budgeting purposes, we would suggest that you plan for some additional funding to
cover this possibility.
