Lesson Plan 5A

TYPE OF LESSON: Systematization and revision of knowledge
VOCABULARY: verbs of action, various nouns
GRAMMAR: present tense simple
SPECIFIC COMPETENCES: 1.1 Identifying details of simple messages articulated clearly and rarely in known / predictable contexts;

1.3 Developing interest and general comprehension of a variety of simple oral messages;

2.1 Requesting and providing information on occupations, jobs, people, hobbies, habits;

2.3 Describing jobs;

3.1 Identifying details from simple texts that contain common information.

OBJECTIVES/LESSON AIMS: by the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
 A. Cognitive Objectives : 1. recognize different occupations;
2. match each resume to its corresponding job posting;
3. use listening skills to answer a varietyof different questions about diverse occupations;
4. use the new words in sentences ;
5. ask simple questions to their peers and provide short answer.
 B. Affective Objectives: a. to create a warm atmosphere for study ;
b. to give students an active role in the process of teaching / learning ;
c. to help students enjoy speaking a foreign language ;
d. to make students confident when speaking English.
SKILLS: listening, speaking, reading, writing

ASSUMPTIONS: I assume that students are familiar with some topics and that they are eager to find out more details.
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: Taking into account that is our first meeting/class, some students could be shy and a part of them
might not participate in the teaching/learning process as expected.

Warmer
Aims: to check attendance and make sure the conditions are proper to start the lesson

T write on the blackboard the title of the new lesson and asks Ss to write it T – Ss 10 minutes
in their notebooks. Ss-T
Using brainstorming method, T writes in the middle of the blackboard the
word “occupations” and then asks Ss to come to the blackboard and write
different names of jobs/occupations.

Presentation
Aims: to review and consolidate Ss’ knowledge on different types of occupations
: to provide the context for the new words

: to raise expectations and create involvement in the learning process.

T gives Ss a worksheet containing 21 riddles. T – Ss 15 minutes
Each student has to read one riddle and then find together the answer. Ss - Ss
Each answer refers to a specific job/occupation. Ss-T
T writes the unknown words on the blackboard and Ss write them in their
notebooks.

Practice
Aims : to review and consolidate Ss’ knowledge regarding occupations
: to give Ss practice on new words encountered in the text
: to activate Ss and make them cooperate with their peers

PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING


T splits the class into five teams. Each team receives a photo containing a T – Ss 10 minutes
specific job. S-S
Ss have 3-5 minutes to describe the job without telling the other teams the Ss-T

name of the job. The other teams have to guess the answer.

Production
Aims: to use the newly acquired lexis
: to review and consolidate Ss’ knowledge

T gives Ss a worksheet containing a crossword. T – Ss 7 minutes
Ss have to analyze the images, tell the name of the job they represent and S-S
then complete the crossword. S-T
T also writes the words on the blackboard to make sure Ss write the words
correctly in their worksheet.

Ending the lesson :

Aim: to motivate Ss and allow them to express their feelings freely

PROCEDURE INTERACTION TIMING


T asks Ss to share how they felt during the lesson by drawing a smiling / T – Ss 3 minutes
sad / angry face on the second worksheet.
T sets homework for the next time, praises all the Ss and dismisses the
class .
