A vision to some critical thinking questions on the story :-
1- Captain Bill has looked suspicious and has also acted strangely since he came to the inn .
Show how

He always looked around him . He spent his days walking on the beach or on the cliffs . He
didn’t want the soldiers to find him

2- Jim’s father was always worried from the captain ‘s stories . Justify

Because he thought that nobody would want to visit the inn

3- Why do you think Black Dog came to ask for Captain Bill in the inn ?

Because he wanted to find the treasure map that was with Bill

4- The Captain’s wooden box contained only one important thing from the things inside it .
Illustrate

It contained some clothes, some guns , a bag of coins and the treasure map which was the
most important thing in it

5- Jim’s mother was really an honest woman . Show how

She only took the money that the captain owes them from the bag in the wooden box and
left the rest of the money

6- Give an example from the story to show that Jim was kind and good with captain Bill

He brought him the doctor when he fought with the Black Dog and fell over

7- What do you think the note that the black Dog gave to captain Bill before he died was ?

May be it was a warning that they would all come at 10,00 to take the treasure map so Bill
was so scared . He fell to the floor and was dead

8- Why do you think none of the people in the village wanted to guard the inn of the
Admiral Benbow ? Because They were all frightened

9- What would have happened if the eight men who came to the inn to see Bill could arrest
Jim and his mother ?

They would have killed them to take the treasure map


10- Why , do you think , the treasure map was very important and they all looked for it ?

Because it was the clue to the place where Captain Flint buried the treasure

11- Why do you think Jim took the treasure map to Dr. Livesy ?

Because Dr. Livesy was an honest man and a magistrate . He trusted him a lot

12- Mr. Trelawny prepared well for the journey to the treasure island . Comment

First, he had to find the ship ( The Hispaniola ) then the crew on it ( Long John Silver as the
cook of the ship and his men ) He also chose Jim Hawkins to be the ship’s boy

13- Jim decided to take his mother and leave the inn after the captain’s death . Justify

They were frightened that Black Dog would come to the inn with other men to look for the
treasure map

14- the crew of the ship was a mixture of good men and bad men . Comment

Mr Trelawny , Dr. Livesy , Captain Smollett and Jim were good people but Long John Silver
and his crew were pirates who wanted to kill the others and steal the treasure

15- It was a big mistake to tell the crew the purpose of the journey . justify

The purpose of the journey should be secret because the crew might make a mutiny and kill
the others to steal the treasure

16- Why do you think Captain Smollett was worried on the ship at the beginning of the
journey ?

He felt angry because the crew knew the purpose of the journey . it should be a secret

He wasn’t happy with the crew and didn’t like Silver

17- What was Captain Smollett’s plan to keep them safe during the journey ?

He asked Mr Trelawny to stay at the front of the ship for all the journey and to keep the guns
with him

18- Captain Smollett was wiser than Mr Trelawny . Comment

Mr. Trelawny was deceived by Silver and thought that he was good but Captain Smollett
didn’t like him and he was right
19- It was only by coincidence when Jim discovered that the crew were pirates . Explain

When he tried to get himself an apple from the barrel, he fell into it . Then he could hear
them talking about their plans to kill the others and steal the treasure

20- Why do you think the captain chose Jim to go with the gang to relax on the Island ?

Because they trust him . So he can hear them and discover their plans easily

21- Long John Silver had bad memories from his previous journey with Captain Flint .
Comment

He lost his leg in it . Pew became blind . also Captain Flint died

22- What were Silver’s evil plans for this journey ?

He planned to make a mutiny on the ship , kill all the others and steal the treasure

23- Captain Smollett had a plan to test the crew and to save the ship when they reached the
island . Explain

He permitted the crew to relax on the island in the afternoon to be able to take the ship or
they would fight for the ship

24- why , do you think , Silver killed Tom on the island ?

Because he refused to join them in the mutiny

25- Why do you think Ben Gun wanted to help Mr. Trelawny on the ship ?

Because he could trust him and in order to take him back home, too

26- How was the fort on the shore of the island the best shelter to the captain and his men ?

It protected them from the pirates because it was well defended , they could fire guns from it
, it kept their supplies and weapons safe

27- Jim and Ben Gun had an agreement on the island . illustrate

Ben Gun offered to help them on the ship home and in return Mr. Trelawny gives him money
and allows him to come home on the ship

28- What would have happened if Jim hadn’t met Ben Gun on the island ?

He might have remained on the island or even been killed by the pirates
