The Search Engine
Search Engines are websites that search the internet for you and give you a list of search results.
Google, Bing, and Yahoo! Search are examples of search engines that enable you to find any
information on the World Wide Web.
Basic Steps How to Use the Search Engine
Web search engines are software systems designed to help people find information stored on other sites.

1. Click your desired browser like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge.

2. Go to the address bar and type your desired search engine like Google.com, Yahoo.com or Bing.com

Evaluating a Web Site and Its Contents
Search engines do not and cannot filter search results
and tell you which is a good source or which is an
unreliable one. Not all websites in the search results are
credible or offer reliable information. Here are tips on
evaluating websites and their contents.
Evaluating a Web Site and Its Contents
1. Check out who the author of the content is. It is good if the author of the
content is identified on the web page and there is information that
establishes his or her credibility.

2. If the content is from an online publication, see if it looks like a
professional publication, and the contact details and "About" information
are provided.

3. Evaluate the accuracy of the content. Read it well and
see if it is free from grammatical or spelling errors. It is better
if it has a bibliography wherein the references cited are
published books.

4. Consider the objectivity of the content. It should present
objective arguments and not biased opinions. It is good if
it also explores other points of view.

5. Look for the date of publication and check if the information is up-to-date.
A good website will show when the information was last updated or indicate
its timeliness.
Bookmarks in a Website
Creating a bookmark in Google Chrome
1. Open your web browser.
2. Visit the web page that you want to bookmark.
3. Press Ctrl + D. Or, click the star icon in the address bar.
4. Name the bookmark and select a folder to save it.
