• Mark your attendance on the attendance sheet in every lecture.
will be as follows:
• If your name and roll number are not on the attendance sheet then you
– Attendance = 5 %
will be considered as absent.
• 75 % attendance is mandatory
• ≥ 90 % = 5, ≥ 85 % & < 90 % = 4, ≥ 80 % & < 85 % = 3, ≥ 75 % & < 80 % = 2,
< 75 % = 0 • Therefore, it is your responsibility to mark your attendance in every
– Quizzes = 15 % (Planned Quizzes) lecture.

Introduction: This Course

• This course is about Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure
Architecture. Where infrastructure means “all hardware and system
software components needed to run IT applications”. And infrastructure
architecture describes the overall design and evolution of that
IT Infrastructure infrastructure.
• This course explains how infrastructure components work on an
architectural level. With architectural level is meant that the components
are described in building blocks, bound to specific technologies. Choices
made on this level are architecturally relevant, meaning that once choices
on building block level are made, it is relatively hard to change these
choices afterwards.
• For instance, the choice to use a certain network cable infrastructure in a
datacenter cannot be changed easily when the datacenter is in operation.
