1. In many parts of the world, children are now given more freedom than they
used to have. Is this a positive or negative development?

It is observed that children in most countries now have a higher degree of freedom than
ever before. This tendency, despite raising some concerns, should be regarded as a
progress.

2. Everyone should become vegetarian because they do not need to eat meat to
have a healthy diet. Do you agree or disagree?

The increasing abundance of food is observed in most parts of the world. Given this,
much has been debated about whether it is still necessary that we eat meat to have good
health. While I understand why more and more people are choosing vegetarianism, I do
not think that everyone should adopt this way of eating.

3. The best way to reduce the amount of traffic in cities today is by reducing the
need for people to travel from home for work, education or shopping.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Incessant traffic jams and other traffic-related problems have heightened public
interest in the topic of how to curb traffic volume. Although some believe that reducing
the need for daily commuting is the most effective way to do this, I believe that this
measure would be unworkable and there are more acceptable methods.

4. The use of social media is replacing face-to-face interaction among many

people in society. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

These days, face-to-face communication is being replaced with online conversations

using social media apps, such as Facebook, WhatsApp or Tumblr. It seems to me that
the benefits these technologies have brought to our lives are overshadowed by their
drawbacks.

5. In education and employment, some people work harder than others. Why do
some people work harder? Is it always a good thing to work hard?

In educational and workplace settings, some people are more conscientious (diligent)
than others. I believe that those who are driven by certain personal goals tend to be more
hardworking than others, and that it is not always good to work hard.

6. Some people think that everyone has the right to have access to university
education, and that governments should make it free for all students no
matter what financial background they have. To what extent do you agree or
disagree with this opinion.

It is thought that studying at university is everyone’s right (quyền), and all tuition fees
should be fully paid by the government. The former view is reasonable, however, I

disagree that the government should take responsibility for students’ university education
fees.

7. Life was better when technology was simpler. To what extent do you agree with
this statement?

As technology has permeated every aspect of people's lives, the impact of modern
technologies arouses a lot of controversy. It is believed that technological advancements
have led to a deterioration in life quality, making it more complicated. Personally, I
completely disagree with this notion.
8. Economic growth in recent years made some people in both developed
countries and developing countries richer. However, research shows that
while people in developing countries are happier, people in developed
countries seem not happier than before. Why does this happen? What can we
learn from it?

Research in human well-being suggest that as a direct result of economic progress,

developing nations acquire greater happniess, while the opposite is observed in developed
nations. This essay will attempt to address the reasons for this phenomenon, along with
its implications.
