Chapter 4
The chapter 4 comprises of the classifications of all buildings proposed for construction according to their
types. Wood-constructed buildings are identified as Type I. Type II buildings are also wood-constructed with
protective fire-resident materials and one-hour fire-resistive. Buildings made out of masonry and wood are
under Type III. Under Type IV, buildings are made of steel, iron, concrete or masonry constructions with
incombustible fire-resistive walls, ceiling and permanent dividers. In comparison, the only difference of type V
buildings from the preceding buildng type is that Type V contains fire-resistive property. Also, this chapter
states that the Building Official is assigned to approve if a new or proposed construction is less hazardous,
based on life and fire risk, whereas the Secretary is the one who prescribes standards and promulgate rules
and regulation with regards to the architectural and structural framework of the building.

Chapter 5

The chapter 5, the idea of fire zone is introduced. Fire zones refers to areas where only particular types of buildings are
allowed to be constructed there. Section 503 states that in order for a building to be moved within or into any fire zone, it is
important to comply first with all the requirements in that first zone. This chapter also clearly identifies the center line of an
adjoining street or alley as adjacent property lines. In addition, existing buildings and structures currently in fire zones are
prohibited to be enlarged, altered, remodeled, repaired or moved except on some given conditions. The main Secretary’s
role with relation to fire zones is to implement restrictions for each Fire Zone type
Chapter 6
Chapter VI generally states that through recognized and accepted testing methods, fire-resistive standards and regulations
are prescribed to the testing of construction materials of a building, classified accordingto their fire-reterdant or flame-
spread ratings. This testing is measured based on their fire-resistive time period rating which is defined as the length of time
to which a material can withstand being burned.

Chapter 7
In Chapter 7 classifications and general requirement of all buildings by use or occupancy, the uses of a building or
structures is referred to as occupancy. Buildings and structures are classified according to their occupancies and th general
standards differ depending on the occupancy. There are ten classes of occupations in the code, some of which include sub-
groups. These are the summary of the 10 classifications:
Group A - Residential Dwelling
Group B - Residential, Hotels and Apartments.
Group C - Education and Recreation.
Group D - Institutional
Group E - Business and Mercantile
Group F - Industrial
Group G - Storage and Hazardous
Group H - Assembly
Group I - Assembly with 1000 or more occupant load
Group J - Accesory

construction, and height of the building as provided in the rules and regulations, ceiling heights, size and dimensions of room and air space requirements in
determining the size of the rooms tackles about the size and air space of specific sites suchas school rooms, workshops, factories, etc.

human habitation shall be provided with adequate and potable water supply, plumbing installation, and suitable wastewater treatment or disposal

long as the top of the foundations is at least 600 millimeters below the established grade and the projection does not obstruct any current utilities, such
as power, communication, gas, water, or sewer lines, the owner in question may be allowed to encroach into public sidewalk areas up to a width of 500
millimeters. If not, the owner will be responsible for paying the corresponding entities for the rerouting of the affected portions of the affected utilities.
