century. Manifest Destiny meant that American were a chosen people ordained by

– It referred to the territorial expansion of the US from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
• Monroe Doctrine as protection for Latin America from European
colonization and the intervention of Europe in the governments of the
Western Hemisphere

Generally speaking, a patent provides the
patent owner with the right to decide how -
or whether - the invention can be used by
others. In exchange for this right, the
patent owner makes technical information
about the invention publicly available in
the published patent document.
