Developing a Team Model: In a team, conflicts or performance issues are dealt with as a team: - Team awareness - Team involvement - If it affects the team, then the team is included. - Responsibilities are shared by those who are responsible. - Conflicts and performances no longer become personal between Coach and individual leaders. - Leaders respond better to peer correction. Example: core values, vision, mission of the team. - Once everyone has had their say and there is no agreement, then the Coach will make the final decision. As a team Member I agree to support the team in the following manner: - To faithfully attend Team meetings and events - To be honest and open about my faults, failures, opinions, ideologies, and to risk conflict in discussing them. - To support and validate the opinions and ideologies of all team members even if I dont agree with them. - To support team decisions after dialogue had been completed, even if I disagree with the final decision. - To maintain the bond of unity and peace with all team members by promptly resolving any conflict and offenses with them. - To model to others what team concepts and principles are all about. - To forgive myself and others if we fail to fulfill this team covenant agreement. - To promptly return communications and carry out action steps previously agreed upon. MINISTRY OF HELPS Using your Spiritual Gifts, Abilities and Talents I Corinthians 12: 12-21, 27-31 1. Help a reliever or someone to share the load. To give assistance to. To give support to, or contribute to. To take hold together with against. 2. Ministry or Minister To serve or wait upon another. Mark 10:42-45 Serving is the key to promotion. Steps to a Successful Helps Ministry

I.

Have a call, and recognize it.

a. Romans 11: 29 the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. b. Authority comes from Gods call on your life to do the job. II.
Know that you are gifted to do the job.

a. b. c. d. III.

Romans 11: 29 gifts always go with the call. I Peter 4: 8-11 Minister in Gods ability not your own. I Corinthians 15: 9, 10 allow the gift to do the work. Proverbs 18:16 God will always ask you to do what you cannot do, so that He can develop you where you can.

Be faithful to what is at hand to do.

a. Ecclesiastes 9: 10a Whatsoever your hand finds to do, do it with all your
heart b. Matthew 25:14-30 Faithful with the gift doubles the ability.

c. Luke 16: 10-12 You must be faithful over little before you are ruler over
much.

1. I Corinthians. 4:2 Moreover it is required in stewards that a man

be found faithful. 2. Proverbs 25:19, Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth and a foot out of joint. 3. Proverbs 13:17, A wicked messenger falls into mischief: but a faithful Ambassador is health. 4. Proverbs 28: 20, A faithful man shall abound with blessings.

PASTORAL THEOLOGY Stephanie Harrison Moses appoints Leaders: Exodus 18:13 27 Moses sat to judge the people from morning until evening. When Moses father-in-law saw all that he done to the people he said, What is this thing that you are doing to the people? Why do you alone sit, and all the people stand before you from morning until evening? Moses reply was that the people come to require of God. When they have a difficulty, they come to me. Jethro said, The thing you are doing is not good, you and the people will wear away. This thing is too much for you. You are not able to perform it by yourself. Jethro gives counsel, and God will be with you. Stand before God for the people, so you may bring the difficulties to God. You shall teach them the statues and the laws. Show them the way in which they must walk. Show them the work they must do. He was actually saying: _____________ For the people. _____________ them the word. ______ _____ ___________. _________ them the work they must do. Select able men / Place them to be rulers of thousands, hundreds, fifties, & tens.

Men that fear God Men of truth Men that hate covetousness. Let them judge the people at all times. The great matters they will bring to you and the small matters they will handle themselves. This will make it easier, they will bear the burden. If you do this: You will be able to endure, The people will go to their place of peace. So Moses chose able men out of Israel. ABLE MEN: Bishops, Elders and Deacons 1Timothy 3 1Timothy 4 Traits of Bishops, Elders and Deacons Be an example to others

You are Not able to perform this yourself alone: Application: The Christian life is not easy to live on your own. You need people who stand beside you to support you to succeed. Thats why God created the church. There are no Lone Rangers in the family of God. We really do need each other. We are a community, a family of faith, and we all work together, we can accomplish great things for Christ.

1 Corinthians 12 / We are many members yet one body 1 Corinthians 13 / Love is the principle thing in caring They dont care how much you know until they know how much you care. Pastoral Care Giving care as a pastor One dimension of small group ministry is to fulfill pastoral care.

PORT: Prayer, Outreach, Relationship, Training. Jesus Christ is the supreme Shepherd, and thus the Ultimate Pastor. Nothing we do or give up for the sake of our calling will ever compare with Jesus self giving life and his sacrificial death on the cross. John 10:11. 14, 16 1 Peter 5:2, 4 Churches and the world will increasingly need under-shepherds who are less like each other and increasingly more like Jesus, the Chief Shepherd. Why did the Son of God come to the earth? ______________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________ Jesus as a Pastor His conversation with the Samaritan Woman/treated her as a person. Told His disciples, follow me; I make you fishermen of men. He brought a healing touch

He taught us how to pray He taught us how to love our enemies. He was a story teller / every day life experiences. He was forgiving. He was Chief Servant Jesus Blessed the little Children, Infants were brought to him (Matt. 19) Jesus and the Tax collector Luke 19:1-10 He fed the multitude The woman caught in adultery, he forgave Raise the dead Wash Disciples feet John 15: 12 Love one another as I have loved you. He gave His Life He went about doing good and healing all that was oppressed of the devil. He is still making intercession for us. He continually with the twelve pried their fingers off of their small ideas about God and people, and, then, into their empty hands he placed the keys to Gods Kingdom. LOOKING UP AND OUT: We must all consider Jesus as Supreme Pastor of His church. Spotlight Him as the supreme MODEL of Pastoral Work. How did he accomplish His goals? Nothing is more freeing and invigorating than looking away from ourselves to the one who called himself the good shepherd. We must as ministers study the four gospels. What about Jesus education: Christ did not launch into his pastoral ministry by getting the equivalent of a seminary education. His views were not shaped by the academic centers of His day. Education has its strategic place, but I believe it is not the place many of us think it has.

Do smarts ever replace hearts? Education is good, but it is not the platform for pastoral work. There are benefits to being academically trained. A respect for revealed truth. An appreciation for Church History. The discipline for personal study.

An exposure to godly men & women. (A professor once said, Get to know the teachers and major in a man, not in a subject. When biblical truth flows from Christ like teachers, lives are profoundly shaped for ministry.)

Note: When tools and skills usurp matters of the heart, an idolatrous attitude poisons ministry. BRINGING GOD TO PEOPLE: (PASTORING) (A Poem from John Fryes Mother) I sought to hear the voice of God And climbed the topmost steeple; And God declared, Go down again; I dwell among the people. Simply put, pastoring is to bring God to His people. John 1:14 The apostle Paul He used the most intimate relational images to describe his ministrythe ministry of a nursing mother and a caring father (1 Thess. 2:7, 11) Our identity is linked to the type of ministry we will give. How we care for people. Why we care for people. Selfishly or Unselfishly?

How did Jesus grow in His vocational identity? His Hebrew Bible provided the shape of His identity. We should be conformed to Christ Identity. Romans 8:29 Always remember The Promises of the written Word needs to become the present living voice of God, a voice that calls out our deepest identity and equips us for our predestined mission. Jeremiah 1:5 (You are called by name, He is with you He knows you) Always minister out of a healed heart not a hurt heart. Why? Everything falls into place only after our identity as designed by God is called out in our personal encounter with Him. JESUS AND COMPASSION: People respond to Compassion. Deep felt compassion is one of the primary and controlling emotions of pastoral ministry. Jesus felt it and, as Chief Shepherd, modeled it for all who would pastor. Matthew 9:36 the word Compassion is a verb meaning, to feel deep passion for. Strong emotions. Example: Jesus heals the leper. Why? To demonstrate that mercy triumphs over justice, Compassion supersedes command when human life is in jeopardy. (Notice: Jesus supernaturally united this man to God.) If Christian behavior includes gut level feelings of mercy, making Gods heart visible, then surely we who are having Christ formed in us must model a radical compassion. Compassion is more than just preaching. It is moving out from behind the pulpit and into the lives of harassed and helpless people. Bringing God to people. Important Facts:

Peoples hunger for God is real, and they know when that hunger is being met, not with proclaimed truth about God, but by God Himself through that proclaimed truth. Pastor - teaching becomes truly effective when revealed truth is honestly communicated from life that is under constant transformation. The world does not need to see a lot of people devoted to Christ; they need to see Jesus Himself. Every small group leader needs to be involved in a small worshiping, caring, praying group. Empowered pastors have a God given inner desire not only to be like Christian character, but also to minister like Christian power through the gifts of the Spirit. REACH OUT TO VISITORS: Prayer - surround those going through difficult times; hospital visits, deaths, time of need, etc. Fellowship times; In small group and outside of the group Add spice to you group. Games, outings, pot luck. Group involvement

SUPERNATURAL MINISTRY OF HELPS Working With a Supernatural Minister

I.

Moses and the Children of Israel are good examples for us:

a. Exodus 17:8-13. Aaron and Her represented the two most important
ministries in the church, Intercessory Prayer and The Ministry of Helps. b. Exodus 18: 13-21. God set a plan for Moses to follow: 1. Be to God for the people pray for them. 2. Teach them the ordnances and the Laws the Word of God. 3. Show them the way they must walk Be an example 4. And the work they must do

II.

Ministry of Helps in the New Testament

a. Matthew 14:15-21. Jesus used His disciples in serving the miracles food
to the people. When we are in our place the people will receive supernatural food! There were twelve baskets of fragments taken up; God will always make sure the ministry of helps get their baskets full! b. Romans 8:26. The Holy Spirit is in the Ministry of Helps. In John 16:7 the Holy Spirit is called the Comforter; the amplified also uses the word Helper.

III. IV.

God said in Genesis 2:18, It is not good that the man be alone He answer was Helps. God has not called any of us to walk alone. Study Ephesians 4: 1-16.

Dont put on religious acts; Matthew 6:16 Beware of physical reactions. Fasting uncovers both spiritual and physical problems. **Note: When the problem is exposed, dont blame the problem, rather, thank God that the fasting has revealed the problem, which was already true** How can I fast with maximum physical benefits? Get plenty of rest. Exercise and get fresh air. Consume plenty of fluids. What are the different types of Fasts? 72 hour No food or drink; Esther 4:16 Partial Fast Eat something, but not much; Daniel 10:2-3 If a group fasts together, they should pray together. How are the Sabbath and fasting related? Isaiah 58:1-12; deals with fasting (v 13-14); keeps God Sabbath Hebrews 4:9; there remains a rest to the people of God Leviticus 26:33-35 (NIV)

A Solemn Assembly: Sanctify a Fast Joel 1:14 Joel 2:15,17; Ten Commands of Revival Blow the trumpet. Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly. Gather the people. Sanctify the congregation. Assemble the elders. Gather the children. Let the Bridegroom go forth from his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. Let the priest and ministers weep. Let them say, spare thy people.

And the Lord will Answer: You will be satisfied. The Lord will do great things. Former rain moderately (a teacher of righteousness according to righteousness) I will restore to you the years that the locusts have eaten. You will never be ashamed. I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. I will show wonders in Heaven and Earth. When you call on Him, you shall be delivered.

ENROLLING WITH CHRIST IN THE SCHOOL OF PRAYER Dr. Mike Harrison Lesson #1: Text: Luke 11:1-4 Lord, teach us to pray 1. This series comes from dissatisfaction in my own prayer life. 2. The lessons will be delivered by a student of prayer not a master. 3. God will, during this study, carry us to new dimensions in prayer. Why do we need to pray? #1 Because God wants us to invite Him to move in our world: Genesis 1:26-28; 3:1-15 Authority given / authority lost Jeremiah 33:1-3 Gods invitation to us to pray James 4:2, 3 Ye have not because ye ask not! Hebrews 4:14-16 why we can pray boldly? #2 Because Jesus prayed: He began his ministry with 40 days of prayer (Luke 4:1-19) The disciples watched him pray (Luke 11:1) He withdrew himself and prayed (Luke 5:16) He went up into a mountain apart to pray (Matt. 14:23) He prayed in the garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-46) ***Note how prayer was followed by power! #3 Because the Early Church prayed: Acts 2:42 They continued steadfastly in prayers Acts. 3 The hour of Prayer Acts 4:29-32 Prayed for boldness to share the gospel Acts. 12:5-17 Prayed for Peters release from prison Acts 13:1,2 They prayed and fasted and The Holy Ghost said The Apostle Paul cited several prayers throughout his Epistles

Read the text: Luke 11:1-4 Enrolling with Christ in the School of Prayer is to respond the way the disciples did: Lord, teach us to pray. Jesus answered their request by giving them the Lords Prayer. In this prayer we learn: 1. To experience our relationship with God as Father 2. To exercise Kingdom authority in the earth 3. How to fulfill the will of God in earth as it is in heaven 4. To enjoy the blessedness of His daily provision 5. To receive forgiveness of our sins and to forgive the sins of others 6. To activate Gods delivering power Will you enroll with Christ in the School of prayer? Set aside 15 minutes a day to pray Find an accountability partner Pray with your bible and notebook near to record anything God may impress upon your heart to read or do Act on Gods revealed will to you

Give us this day our daily bread asks for Gods provision. Praying for Gods Provision:

1) Notice it is not the first order of prayer Praise, authority, 2) 3)

and submission precede provision. Notice the frequency of prayer DAILY Gods provision is linked to submission to His Kingdom: a. Matthew 6: 19 33 i. Who do you love? ii. What are you thinking about? iii. What are you seeking? b. Psalm 23: 1 6 i. Are you listening to the Great Shepherd? ii. Are you walking in paths of righteousness? iii. Provision and blessing are the result of following the Good Shepherd! Find scriptures that promise you what you need. Pray the prayer of faith: Mark 11:24; III John 2 & I John 5:14 & 15; Philippians 4:10 19.

MUSIC

CHURCH 212 PROCEDURES MANUAL

MUSIC MINISTRY Psalm 78:72 And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them. Arrive early. Spend time other than church worshiping God. Pray in the spirit before the service. Maintain a spirit of excellence. Speak with minister before service for special direction. Practice going from song to song without introduction. Unless instructed, dont preach between songs, leave that to the minister, encouragement is fine as lead by the spirit. Stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit and the Minister, God may reveal something He wants to do. Open your eye, look around from time to time, and see what is going on around you. Practice your music during the week Avoid changing the beat of a song very often, from fast to slow then back to fast. Praise songs are usually up beat, this is good to star the service with, get the people in the mood for worship. Use songs that get people involved physically such as clapping or dancing; then move to a slower beat for worship. Musicians or singer who are not a part of the regular band should have someone hear their song before they sing, If they need more practice tell them, dont kill a service. If singing with a sound track, always do a sound check, and have it keyed up. Dress code. Check all microphones for sounds and bugs prior to service. Think ahead for problems. Watch sing the same songs to much. Give Varity. Engage people in worship.

Recruit, Train, Mobilize, and Meaningfully Appreciate: Recruit you musicians. Dont just let anyone sing. Train your musicians. Spend time together in prayer and worship. Mentor, instruct, and love them. Mobilize the musicians in ministry. Teach them to do what you do. Meaningful appreciate, cards, phone calls, or take them out to lunch.

Watch me, Do it with me, Ill watch you, you do it.

OFFERING

CHURCH 212 PROCEDURES MANUAL

RECEIVING AND PROCESSING THE OFFERING AT CHURCH 212

A minimum of two Ushers and/or Counters shall possess and process the offering. On Sunday mornings, and at special gatherings, there should be six Ushers on duty to serve. Ushers should arrive 45 minutes prior to the scheduled start time to prepare for service. Obtain your name tag and a supply of offering envelopes and a few pens and be ready to distribute them. Each Usher will be assigned a section of the meeting room. Be certain that there is an offering basket positioned at each end of each front row of seats. Meet together and pray no later than 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the service or special gathering. At the beginning of each meeting, take a position near the back of the room in your assigned section. Be prepared to meet, greet and seat those who enter your assigned section of the room at the direction of the Head Usher. Be prepared to assist in the prayer line at any time. At the conclusion of the musical portion of the service, or when a leader requests it, be prepared to move to the front of your assigned aisle and proactively distribute offering envelopes and pens to those who indicate a desire for one. Do not neglect the front row. Immediately return to the front of your assigned aisle, and retrieve the offering basket. At the conclusion of the prayer of blessing over the receipt of the offering, or when the leader requests it, begin to distribute the baskets row by row, from the front of the auditorium to the rear. The baskets will be passed in one direction only; each row will have a separate basket that will be retrieved at its end and brought to the counting room. When all who wish to give have placed their offerings in the baskets, bring the baskets to the counting room at the rear of the auditorium, and consolidate their contents. Two Counters that have been designated by the Head Usher will count the offering in the counting room at the rear of the Sanctuary. Except in rare circumstances, the offering will be received at the conclusion of the service. After Prayer, feel free to sit with your family, but be ready to serve at a moments notice. Counters should report to the counting room as soon as possible at the conclusion of the service. Remove the contents of each envelope, record check numbers on the envelopes and retain the envelopes.

If a check has no envelope, prepare one for the check, recording the donors name, check number and amount. Using the accounting form, count and record the number of each denomination of bill and coin, as well as the total of all the checks. Using the adding machine, and with the utmost care and attention to detail, obtain the sum of all contributions, recording the information on the form. Complete the appropriate credit card form. Each counter will sign and date the accounting form and initial and date the adding machine tape. Place the envelopes, cash, coins and checks, as well as the tape and the accounting form in the bank bag. Pass the counted offering and the accounting supplies to the Head Usher. Do not give the offering to any member of Pastoral Staff unless specifically instructed to do so. Do not discuss the offering with any other person. This information is confidential, and must not be disclosed to anyone for any reason. Return your name tag to the storage box. Recover and return the unused envelopes. Recover and return the pens that have been distributed. Consolidate the offering baskets and pens in the storage containers so they will be ready for the next service. If there are fewer than 500 offering envelopes remaining, notify the Head Usher so more can be procured. Thank you for serving!
