Random Access Memory

Random Access Memory can be both read from and written to, and written to, and any location
can be assessed independently. This is why it is called Random Access Memory (RAM). It is
the ordinary memory used for storing program and data. It loses its contents when the power
is switched off.
Read Only Memory
Read only Memory (ROM) is non-volatile-i.e., it retains its contents when the power is switched
off. It is typically used for starting up a computer, and for computer with simple continuous
control function such as programmable logic controllers.
Processor Cache Memory
Processor Cache Memory is a small amount of fast but expensive memory placed between
the processor and main memory. In some PCs there may be extra cache attached directly to
the mother board. When the processor attempts to read a word of main memory, a check is
made first to determine if the word is in the cache. If it is, a copy of the word is transferred to
the processor If not, a block of main memory consisting of a fixed number of words is
transferred into the cache and then a copy of the required world is transferred to the processor.

Cambridge IGCSE

We created Cambridge IGCSE more than 30 years ago. Today, it’s the world’s
most popular international qualification for 14 to 16year old’s. Not only is it truly
international - it gives students more options than any other international qualification.
That means more subjects to choose from, more ways to learn and more ways to
succeed.
We align the standards of Cambridge IGCSE with the GCSE qualification taken
in England. Cambridge IGCSE was first examined in June 1988 (introduced for first
teaching in September 1986). At the same time the GCSE was introduced in the UK.

Cambridge IGCSE assessment takes place at the end of the course and can
include written, oral, coursework and practical assessment. This broadens
opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning, particularly when their first
language is not English. In many subjects there is a choice between core and extended
curricula, making Cambridge IGCSE suitable for a wide range of abilities.

Grades are benchmarked using eight internationally recognized grades, A* to

G, which have clear guidelines to explain the standard of achievement for each grade.

Cambridge IGCSE examination sessions occur twice a year, in June and

November. Results are issued in August and January.

Past papers with mark schemes for each subject are available for you to
download, along with examiner reports from previous exam sessions, and specimen
papers. To find them, go to the Cambridge IGCSE subjects page and choose your
subject.

Cambridge teachers can download a much wider selection of syllabus

materials from our password protected School Support website.

Drop Cap

Y
angon, the commercial capital, is the main gateway to Myanmar. Evergreen and cool
with lush tropical trees, shady parks and beautiful lakes, Yangon has earned the name
of "The Garden City of the East". Yangon was founded by King Alaungpaya on the
site of a small settlement called Dagon when he conquered Lower Myanmar in 1755.

When you visit Yangon, visiting Shwedagon Pagoda is a must. It is one of the most
famous and interesting places to visit in Yangon. Sule Pagoda lies in the center of Yangon
and can be easily visited. Other than pagodas, museums such as National Museum,
Bogyoke Museum and Gems Museum display historical events of Myanmar.
