B. Motivation
Alright, before we proceed to our
discussion. Let’s have an activity,
called Break the Code to level up
your Flag!
Instruction:

● Number 1 to 26 corresponds
with the letter from A-Z

● You will break the code


using the letter.

Am I clear? “Yes ma’am”

Mechanics of the game:


Each group will have a flag. Group
1 is red flag and group 2 is green
flag.
I will place the flag on the lowest
part of the board.
I will show a numbers that
corresponds with a letter and then
you break the code. Once your
group broke the code, one
representative will write to the board
the word you have come up. The
group who writes the word first to
the board, their flag will be move
upward.
So the flag will be the basis if who
is the winner.

Understood?

Okay, let’s divide the class into 2


groups, group 1 will be the row 1, 2,
3, and 4 and the group 2 will be the
row 5, 6, 7, and 8.

Form a circle with your groupmate


and then choose your 1
representative.

Okay, are you ready?

The flag race will continue until the


end of my class. So if I see one of
your groupmates who are using
cellphone, going out without my
permission and other disruptive
behaviors, I will move your flag
downward, and if your groupmates
are doing great like participating and
answers question your flag will level
up.

Now that we are done with our Pre-


Activity, let’s proceed to our
discussion.

So, our topic for today is Mental


and Emotional Health:

Health is a state of complete


physical, mental and social well-
being and not merely the absence of
disease or infirmity.

Who can remember the six


dimension of health in their previous
lesson?
The dimension of health are
the mental, physical,
emotional, social, mental-
Very Good! spiritual, and environmental.

In this lesson let’s focus in our


mental and emotional health.

Who has an idea what mental health


is?

(Students answer may vary)


-Mental health includes our
emotional, psychological, and social
well-being. It affects how we think,
feel, and act. It also helps determine
how we handle stress, relate to
others, and make healthy choices.

-The psychological well-being of a


person.
- How the person thinks
-How the person feels
- How the person acts

Good mental health makes you


functions comfortably in a society.
It allows you to face realities in life.

Emotional health is a component of


health where it lets you control your
thoughts, feelings, and behavior.

Characteristics of a healthy mind:

1.Directs self-independent of the


surrounding.
2. Functions independently where
and when inappropriate.
3. Enjoys and contents oneself with
simple everyday pleasures.
4. Capable of experiencing the full
range of emotions.
5. Accepts self, others, and self-
disappointment.
6. Shows no fears of the unknown
and always open to new ideas.
7. Deals with the world as it is rather
than the world wants it.

Do you think that stress is always


positive class?

Actually, stress can either be


positive or negative.

Stress is defined as the physiological


and emotional responses to a
significant or unexpected change or
disruption in one’s life.
Give an example scenario that you
feel stress.

The word stressor refers to the


things that make a person stressed.

For example: I am stress because I


lose in the game.

The stressor is the game.

There are two different kinds of


stress

1. Eustress- it refers to a positive


and healthy response of the body (Students answers may vary)
from a stressor. It produces good
effect to one’s well-being.

For example: A person who studied


for a long hours then got an
outstanding grade in the exam, may
feel happiness and enjoyment.

2. Distress- it refers to a negative


reaction of the body towards a given
stressor. It may cause problems in
health, alter the mood and emotions,
and even affect the way a person
thinks.

For example: When a person woke


up late for work, he or she may feel
anger and disappointment.
