Q 1. How can I register myself for the admission to academic programmes of the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI)?
Ans. You can register online for all programmes through the ISI application portal for Admission in 2020, having
URL http://www.isical.ac.in/~admission and follow the guidelines provided there to proceed.
Q 3. Is there any option for paying application fee offline or through bank challan?
Ans. NO
Ans. No. This is not possible since admission tests for all programmes are conducted on the same date.
Ans. There is no such limit. Anyone who satisfies the eligibility conditions can apply.
Q 6. I wish to apply for one of the academic programmes. However, I will be appearing for the qualifying
examination only after the ISI Admission Test 2020 is held. Will my application be rejected?
Ans. You can apply for admission to any academic programme of ISI ONLY IF the qualifying examination is
completed by July 1, 2020.
Q 7. I have inadvertently provided incorrect information in the online registration form. Is it possible to correct
the error after the form has been submitted?
Ans. The application portal allows you to register only once with a given email address and information provided
in the registration form cannot be modified after submission. Hence you must register again with a different
email address if you have submitted incorrect information at the time of registration.
Q 8. Is it possible to change/update the information provided by me in the online application form, once the
online application form is submitted?
Ans. No. Change/update is normally permitted only before submission of the application form. However, in case
minor changes are required when your Application Status is “Confirmed but not paid”, the HELPDESK may be
contacted for assistance.
It may be noted that, for B.Stat./B.Math. or M.Tech. (CS/CrS) programmes, applicants who are INMO awardees or
taking GATE in 2020 and wish to submit INMO documents/ GATE scores at a later date will be provided a window
for this after the last date of online application.
Q 9. I am applying for the B.Stat./B.Math. programme. I have been awarded a National Mathematics Olympiad
certificate by an organization other than the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education at the Tata Institute
of Fundamental Research (TIFR). Will I be eligible for written test waiver?
Ans. No. Only those applicants who have been selected as INMO AWARDEES to participate in the International
Mathematics Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) in the current year or in any previous year, based on their
performance in the Indian National Mathematics Olympiad (INMO) conducted by the National Board of Higher
Mathematics, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. Such candidates will be directly called for
interviews.
However, like all other candidates, such candidates are also required to apply in the prescribed application form
for admission to the programme. Merely holding an INMO Certificate of Merit from the Homi Bhabha Centre for
Science Education (HBCSE) or clearing any Math Olympiad organized by any other organization will not suffice for
waiver of written tests for selection to the programme.
Q 10. I am applying for the B.Stat./B.Math. programme and have/ will be participating in the INMO in February
2020. The results are expected to be declared after the application deadline for ISI is over. How can I submit
my INMO certificate in this case?
Q 11. Ans. Even if the application deadline is over before the INMO 2020 results are declared, you will be allowed
to submit your INMO certificate at a later date that will be notified to you in advance by SMS and email sent to
your registered mobile/email id mentioning the dates of reopening of the application portal for this purpose.
Q 12. I am applying for the M.Tech.(CS/CrS) programme and have appeared for GATE 2020. The results are
expected to be declared on March 16, 2020, that is, after the application deadline for ISI is over. How can I
submit my GATE score in this case?
Q 13. Ans. Even if the application deadline is over before the GATE 2020 results are declared, you will be allowed
to submit your GATE score at a later date that will be notified to you in advance by SMS and email sent to your
registered mobile/email id mentioning the dates of reopening of the application portal for this purpose.
Q 14. How can I preview my application after I have filled it up and submitted it?
Ans. After logging into your account on the ISI Application Portal, please go to the DASHBOARD and select the
PREVIEW FORM button. You will be taken to the APPLICATION DETAILS page which has a VIEW option for viewing
the form.
Q 15. How can I print my application after I have filled it up and submitted it? I do not see any option for doing
so.
Ans. After logging into your account on the ISI Application Portal, please go to the DASHBOARD and select the
PREVIEW FORM button. You will be taken to the APPLICATION DETAILS page which has a VIEW option for viewing
the form. To print the application, use the PRINT option of your browser after the application is displayed on
your screen.
Q 16. My application form has a blank field titled REGISTRATION NO. under PERSONAL INFORMATION. What is the
significance of this?
Ans. Your unique registration number will be generated at the time of issue of admit cards and this field will
get populated automatically.
Q 17. How can I pay my application fee after submitting the filled-in application form?
Ans. After logging into your account on the ISI Application Portal, please go to the DASHBOARD and choose the
MAKE PAYMENT button.
Q 18. How can I get a receipt from ISI for the application fee paid by me?
Ans. After successful payment, the computer-generated receipt provided by ISI will be appended to your
Application Form, which will also have your payment ID on the top left corner under the ISI logo. After logging
into your account on the ISI Application Portal, please go to the DASHBOARD and choose the VIEW APPLICATION
button to view (and print, if needed) the updated application form and the appended receipt.
Q 19. Can I withdraw my application after submission and fee payment and ask for a refund of the application
fee?
Ans. No, there is no provision for withdrawal of application and refund of application fee after the applicant
makes successful payment.
Q 20. I have successfully completed my class 12 from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling). Am I eligible
for admission to the B.Stat./B.Math. programme?
Ans. Yes, you can get admission eligible provided you have studied Mathematics and English at the (10+2) level.
Ans. Yes, if you are applying under any reserved category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL), then you must have a valid
SC/ST/OBC-NCL certificate in your name. The OBC certificate must also specify that candidate belongs to the
non-creamy layer and that the caste is listed in the Central Government list. Also, the certificate must have been
issued on and after April 1, 2019. However, OBC-NCL certificates issued by any competent authority and valid on
the date of application will be acceptable.
Q 22. I have appeared for the qualifying examination for the programme that I wish to apply for, but my result is
awaited. Can I submit the online application form?
Ans. Yes, you can submit the online application form by ticking the RESULT AWAITED box at the bottom of the
row corresponding to the qualifying examination on the ACADEMIC DETAILS page while filling up the application
form. However, you must ensure that you fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria. In case you are selected for
admission and wish to join the programme as a student, you must produce the result of the examination at the
time of admission.
Ans. Admit Card can be downloaded from your login DASHBOARD separately for forenoon and afternoon tests. An
SMS and an email will be sent to your registered mobile and email id in advance, informing you of the date of
admit card download. In addition, please follow the website notifications.
