Guidelines for Practical Training and Project Work

Based on the actual training, the student must write a project report on the topic selected under the
guidance of a Company Guide, approved by Internal Guide (Faculty) and submit two copies of the
same to the Internal Guide of the institute. The project and report assessment details will be shared
separately. For external evaluation there will be a viva voce at the beginning of fifth trimester. The
viva-voce shall be conducted by an expert panel appointed by the Institute.
1. COMPONENTS OF THE REPORT
The sequence of arranging & binding the project report material will be as follows.

7. Abstract/ Executive Summary: The abstract is a summary of the work done in the months when you
were an intern in the organization. It must include the objectives of the project undertaken, details of
your study, your findings, and recommendations from your learnings. Limit yourself to one page.
8. Chapters (body of text): Content of individual chapters as mentioned below
9. List of tables (if any)
10. List of Figures (if any)
11. List of Abbreviations (if any)
12. Bibliography
13. Annexures/Appendices (if any)

Chapter 1: Introduction

2. FORMAT OF THE PROJECT REPORT:

Leave a blank page at the beginning and end of the report.
 Type of Paper- Executive Bond (White)
 Paper Size- 8.27” x 11.69” (A4 Size)
 Font- Times New Roman
 Font Size- All of the following are mandatory
 Chapter Title/Separators - 22 (Bold)
 Heading- 16 (bold)
 Sub heading 14 (bold)
 Body of Text 12 (normal)
 Foot notes/Sources 10 (normal, italicised)
 Margins- 1.5” on left side and 1” minimum from all other sides.
 Page numbering – Bottom, centre
 Before beginning of chapters use small roman letters (i, ii, iii…)
 From chapters use roman numbers (1, 2, 3…)
 Bibliography and Annexure – No page numbering
 Line spacing- 1.5 lines/Double
 Text Alignment- Left aligned (Justified)
 Cover Sheet- Bound in Black Resin with lettering in golden embossing or screen printing
 Binding- Perfect binding with hard bound cover
 Printing- One sided only.
(Do not use page border or borders around text. Do not insert tracing sheet, ornamental papers,
colours where not required, designs etc.)
3. STYLE OF WRITING:
 The length of the report should be of minimum 25 pages.
 Every chapter must begin on new page.
 The length of the chapter has to be of minimum 2 pages.
 There should be at least one blank line between two paragraphs.
 Page numbers are mandatory and should be given at the bottom (centre) only.
 Diagrams and figures should, as far as possible, follow immediately after they are referred to in
the text.
 Diagrams and figures should be numbered as x.x (eg. Fig. 3.1 for the first figure in chapter 3) in
the text of the discussion. The actual diagram/table would be followed by the caption in the
format: Fig. x.x: Figure Caption and the Source
 APA format to be followed for writing the Bibliography.

Encyclopedia & Dictionary Format:

Magazine & Newspaper Articles Format:

Author's last name, first initial. (Publication date). Article title. Periodical title, volume
number(issue number if available), inclusive pages.
Note: Unlike other periodicals, p. or pp. precedes page numbers for a newspaper
reference in APA style.

4. SUBMISSION
Two Hard bound copies of the project report along with a soft copy should be submitted to
