SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for the technical application of MoorMaster™ products/systems for our
customers. This role will encompass technical sales support and project engineering throughout the delivery
phase of the project and handing over to Cavotec Service working closely with the Cavotec project manager to
support our customers. Success will be systems delivered to meet the customers’ requirements in a time
efficient manner and continuously improving our tools/processes to deliver information faster for our
customers. Success is also making it easy for our customers to get MoorMaster systems operational on their
berth.
The Application Engineer will work with the global nature of Cavotec’s business, being flexible with working
hours to ensure we offer the best levels of service to our customers we can.
MAIN TASKS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 Provide Technical Sales Support for MoorMaster sales team, including sales documentation, spec sheets,
GA plans with assistance from the product development team and management.

 Be responsible for MoorMaster system configuration, including unit type, quantity positioning on the
berth, adapting to berth and defining system capacity. The application engineer will need to interpret
metocean conditions, be conversant and actively research maritime guidelines; for example PIANC,
OCIMF, DNV, SIGTTO. The Application Engineer will work closely with engineering to ensure the system
performance is commensurate with most up to date predicted unit performance.

 Manage dynamic mooring analyses through Cavotec engineering or third parties. Where possible the
Application engineer will complete MoorMaster system capacity calculations.

 Improve the processes and tools required for technical delivery of MoorMaster systems. It is expected
information is developed with the intent of reusability and clarifications to reduce technical queries from
Project Management/Sales/Customers to zero

 Manage technical sales support tasks meeting KPI’s

 Engage with the Product Manager, Sales and Engineering teams to manage workload/tasks and where
necessary program engineering requirements for delivery projects into the engineering pipeline within
CNZ’s planning software.

 To ensure customer (internal and external) requirements, project tasks (scope of work by Cavotec and
customer), quotations and deliverables are identified, understood and successfully translated into project
specification.

 To ensure internal and external suppliers have all required documentation (System BOM, Project
Specification) to achieve required quality standards and delivery times of product in accordance with
contractual obligations.

 Work closely with the Project Mangers to manage delivery of technical information to the Customer
during a delivery project.

 To identify and manage any issues and risks that may impact project success AND be able to report
progress (and issues) to Project Manager/Customer in a professional attitude.

 Adhere to budgets set for projects

 Within delivery projects information is often disparate and sometimes incomplete, the Application
Engineer will approach this with an open, collaborative and flexible mind‐set to seek effective/alternative
solutions by consulting with all relevant parties.

 Create project costings where appropriate, seeking reviews/approvals at all stages. Work closely with
production and engineering to ensure cost figures are accurate and develop standard supply packages.

 The Application Engineer will work to understand and seek out information from experienced parties
when presented with commercial viability vs risk issues.

 To provide customers (internal and external) with required reporting and documentation keeping
customers informed throughout project phases.

 Keeping at all times good customer relationships and representing Cavotec’s best interests. To provide all
engineering services in order to be prime liaison contact for the Project Manager and Customers during
all phases of the delivery project, effectively representing Cavotec’s interests whilst developing and
maintaining professional and healthy relationships.

 Maintain an excellent customer experience both internal and external, predict and resolve effectively and
in a timely manner any issues arising.

 Where required support the Project Manager for all project planning and execution.

 Ensure that all internal and external design work efforts (i.e. tasking of team, outsourcing) are organised
in a timely manner to meet agreed outcome.

 Cooperate with all other functions in the team environment (Controls Engineering, Project Management,
Quality, Document Control, Sales, After Sales and Service, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Management).

 International travel to provide support for required meetings and project phases (i.e. planning/kick off,
installation) as required. This may include on‐site problem resolution with suppliers, manufacturing and
customers.

 Develop and maintain win‐win relationships with all levels within the organisation and external to the
organisation.

 Observe Cavotec's internal design & documentation process standards and update as knowledge is
gained or standards are lacking, ensuring consistency.

 Customers may from time to time ask for various standards, site specific requirements be met. The
application engineer will provide technical input on these requests and with the Sales/Product Manager
and Project Managers manage to a successful outcome.

• Proficient in 2D CAD

• High level of understanding of Mechanical, Civil engineering understanding and be able to assess
requested technical standards (eg ISO/EN)

• Understanding in electrical systems
