A Life Rafts
Check lashings and painters to be in good condition and firmly secured

to ship using weak link arrangement.
Check container not to be damaged and stowed with painter outlet

facing Aft and drain holes at bottom.
Check Life raft containers to be marked with ship's name, port of

registry and service dates.
Check condition and location of embarkation light and boarding line for
4
Fwd life raft when carried
5 Check ship's side removable guardrail sections to be free to release

B Lifeboat(s) – Rescue Boat Hull


1 Inspect Hulls for damage and chaffing. Repair or Report, as necessary
Check that lifeboat hulls are marked with length, Breath, Depth,
2
Number of persons , ship's name, and port of registry.

C Lifeboat Lifting Hooks and Winch


Check condition of Lifting hooks, must be clean ,free of rust/paint not
1
distorted.
Check lifting hook secreting bolds at keel for corrosion. Scale/paint if
2
necessary. Report if badly deteriorated .
Check brake housing and clutch for moisture/condensation. Air driven
3 winch
( refer to maker's manual )
4 Ensure that airline filter is clean. Wash with kerosene.
5 Fill oil chamber in line oiler as necessary
6 Apply grease as necessary

D Boats Equipment
1 All wire and rope work to be inspected and renewed as required
2 Lockers to be checked for water-tightness Defects
Lockers and tanks to be conspicuously marked: FOOD, WATER ( with
3
quantity in litters), SMALL GEAR, FUEL.
4 Check all provisions to be in good condition
Ring exposure cover frame, spreader, and cover. Ensure sufficient
5
lashing fitted, cover must be clean and dry.

E Lifeboats and Life raft Embarkation Ladders


Ladders to be spread and rope work and steps to be inspected. Repair
1
or renew as necessary. Check securing arrangements.

F Bridge Pyrotechnics, Man overboard Signals and Line Throwing


Apparatus
1 Inspect all lifebuoys for damage or deterioration and replace where

necessary.
2 Mark again the ship's name and port of registry where necessary
3 Check retro-reflective tape to be clean and in good order
4 Check self-igniting lights & buoyant lines. Renew where necessary
Check the Man Overboard Lifebuoys are free to operate and of correct
5
weight

G Spare Lifesaving Equipment


Check spare equipment, indent for items required to maintain the
1
recommended stock to be carried on board.
