2. Present neat circuit diagrams, equations and waveforms to
support your explanation wherever necessary.

Question No.1 [10x2=20]
1.1 Determine the phase sequence of the set of voltages;
Van  200 cos(t  10 0 )

Vcn  200 cos(t  1100 )
1.2 Write down the relationship of phase and line voltages/currents
for the balanced star-delta three-phase system.
1.3 Draw the s-domain equivalent circuits of inductor and the
capacitor excited by current source.
1.4 For circuit in figure (01) with initial capacitive voltage 𝑉𝑐 (0) =
0 𝑉. Determine the output response 𝑣(𝑡) when input is (a) unit-
impulse and (b) unit-step function.

1.5 Define coefficient of coupling? Interpret when k ≤ 0.5 and k = 1?


1.6 Write the loop equations and draw the equivalent circuit for the
circuit in figure (02).

1.7 Draw the two-port equivalent circuit of y-parameters.
1.8 State the condition of reciprocity and the symmetry for network
function
1.9 Why a high-pass RC circuit is called differentiator? Mention its
applications.
1.10 The low pass RC filter with R= 3kΩ and C=0.03µF. Determine the
cut-off frequency and phase shift.

Question No.2 [2, 3, 3, 3]


2.1 Three 12 Ω resistors are connected in star to 415V, 3-phase supply.
Determine the total power dissipated by the resistors.
2.2 Three coils each having impedance of 3 + 𝑗4 Ω are connected (i)
in star and (ii) in delta to a line voltage of 415V, 3-phase supply.
Calculate for each connection (a) the line and phase voltages and
(b) the phase and line currents.
2.3 Two wattmeters indicate 10kW and 3kW respectively when
connected to a 3-phase motor, the reverse switch being operated on
the meter indicating 3 kW reading. Determine (i) the total input
power and (ii) load power factor.
2.4 Describe the relationship between voltage, current and power in 3-
phase star-connected system. Also draw the phasor diagrams.

3.1 Find the equivalent (a) T-network and (b) π-network of the linear
transformer shown in figure (04)

3.2 For the question 3.1 in figure (04), if 𝐼1 = 20 cos(500𝑡 − 20°) A
and 𝐼2 = 5cos(500𝑡 − 20°) A , calculate total energy stored in the
system when the time t=0.
3.3 State the Dot Convention rule of mutually coupled circuits.
3.4 Find the loop currents in the magnetically coupled circuit shown in
figure (05)?

6.1 Sketch the output waveforms of differentiating circuit for the
condition RC=T, when the input is
(i) sine wave
(ii) a square wave and
(iii) a triangular wave.
6.2 Sketch the output waveform from the integrating circuit when the
input is square wave for RC >> tp, RC = tp, and RC << tp. if tp is
time period of input.
