is generally termed as administration of schools.

1. EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION as EXECUTIVE POSITION

According to dictionary….
EXECUTIVE means “is one who administers affairs.”
POSITION …”is the place where a person or thing is especially in
relation to others”.

EXECUTIVE POSITION is referring to educational administrators as they


are located in certain positions of authority in the administrative levels of
the educational organization. These levels are commonly known as top,
middle, lower administrative levels. They should be treated as a network of
tiers whose occupants play interrelated roles.
2. EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION as PROCESS MANAGEMENT

Two common contexts in the term “management”


a. as a group of educational managers, executives or administrators b. as
the art, act or manner of managing or handling, controlling and directing
educational processes.

When the roles of educational administrators are translated into


functions and are exercised through a process ( a particular method of doing
something involving a number of steps to achieve a particular purpose).
Management in educational administration relates to an act in a
process, as opposed to the executive position in or to the group of managers
in the top, middle, and lower administrative hierarchy.
3. EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION as PUBLIC

CONCERN “ A public office is a public


trust”.

The educational system is in itself a public concern. Whether public or


private, any school has a public responsibility to meet and uphold. It refers to the
end-user of educational services.

Two dictionary meanings of the term “Public”.


a. refers to the people as a whole or the community at large;
b. a specific part of the people, those people considered together because
of some common interest or purpose.
( the members and elements of the educational community, of society and culture with
immediate service areas, and the power structures that influence environment around which
educational administration operates).
4. EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION as CAREER
Career
- is one progress through life or in a particular vocation.
- a profession or occupation which one trains for and pursues a lifework. -
is viewed as a sequence of work-related experiences that comprise a work
history and reflect a chosen work-related life theme.
- refers to one’s progress in one’s job and as that progress affects the self,
his family and those around him. Progress in one interesting twists, implies a
backward or forward movement or even the status quo.

Career development opportunities may be provided for educational administrators over and
above those in hierarchical structure on well-known professional motives is such opportunities
includes the basics in terms of Independence, security, achievement, professional growth.
5. EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATION as DISCIPLINE
The teaching and learning process is the hallmark of discipline

Discipline
- a branch of knowledge of learning
- a training that develops self-control, character or orderliness and efficiency.
1. Educational administration as a discipline can be taught and learned as
organized system of knowledge and that is directly related to the requirements
of practice and vice versa.
2. Organized system of knowledge can lead to better understanding that
undertakes toward self-control, character, orderliness and efficiency in the
performance
3. This system of knowledge when translated into a curricular program can be
properly observed and reliably assessed.
