CASE STUDY ANALYSIS -7
GOOGLE, APPLE, AND FACEBOOK BATTLE FOR YOUR
INTERNET EXPERIENCE

The case study analyses the intense rivalry between the three tech
behemoths, Apple, Facebook, and Google, as they fight for
supremacy in determining how people use the Internet. Apple, which
is well-known for creating cutting-edge gadgets like the iPad and
iPhone, aspires to dominate the Internet access market. It prioritizes
ease of use for its devices and provides a large selection of apps to
improve the user experience. Apple also makes a lot of money from
streaming services for videos and music. Google strives to maintain
its lead with its search engine by continuously enhancing its
offerings. It provides the Android mobile operating system and makes
investments in artificial intelligence and other technologies to
enhance and personalize search results.
Billions of people use Facebook, the largest social network, to remain
in touch. It uses the user data it gathers to generate revenue through
tailored advertisements. Additionally, Facebook is expanding into
new markets like messaging and virtual reality. Mobile devices are
seen by all three businesses as essential to their success. They are
vying to offer the greatest experience possible for tablets and
smartphones. It's difficult to predict which business will succeed
because each has unique advantages and disadvantages. However,
the winner may have a significant influence on our online behavior,
including the services we use and the management of our data.
QUESTION ANSWERS
1. Compare the business models and core competencies of Google,
Apple, and Facebook.
Ans) Comparing Core Competencies and Business Models:
 Google: Its primary function is to facilitate online searches. They
primarily monetize by displaying adverts in response to your
online searches and activities. Their search engine and the free
services they provide, such as Google Maps and Gmail, are their
strongest points.
 Apple: Apple is well-known for producing innovative devices like
the iPad and iPhone. You can also download apps for your devices
from their App Store. Apple stands out for its emphasis on
designing products that are simple to use and integrate seamlessly
with one another.
 Facebook: This is the social media platform where friends can
connect and share content. They are adept at determining your
interests and presenting you with advertisements accordingly. The
adverts that are seen on their platform are their primary source of
revenue.

2. Why is mobile computing so important to these three firms?

Evaluate the mobile strategies of each firm.
Ans) Since mobile devices are the main way that people access the
internet, corporations like Google, Apple, and Facebook depend
heavily on them. Examples of these devices are smartphones and
tablets. Many smartphones run Google's Android software, which
expands the reach of their services by assisting in data collection and
targeted advertising. Apple places a high priority on the seamless
integration of its products, including the iPad and iPhone, with a
focus on data security and user experience. Facebook, on the other
hand, makes use of its extensive user base of mobile apps such as
Instagram and WhatsApp to show people advertisements and bolster
its revenue stream. All things considered, mobile computing is
essential to these businesses' plans since it enables them to interact
with users and efficiently monetize their platforms.
3. Which company and business model do you think is most likely
to dominate the Internet, and why?
Ans) It's difficult to predict who will rule the internet, but Google,
Apple, and Facebook all have advantages. Google is a leader in
search and advertising, always using artificial intelligence to improve
its offerings. To deliver a safe and intuitive experience, Apple places a
high priority on customer privacy and seamless usage. With so many
users, Facebook has a significant impact not just on social networking
but also on messaging and video. Even though every business is
unique, the internet dominance environment is always changing due
to shifting customer preferences and technological developments.

4. What difference would it make to a business or to an individual

consumer if Apple, Google, or Facebook dominated the Internet
experience? Explain your answer.
Ans) There would be benefits and cons if one of these businesses
took over the internet. The internet might become safer and easier
to use if Apple took the lead, but there might not be as much
diversity or creativity. Better information access may result from a
Google-dominated internet, but privacy issues may surface and hurt
smaller companies. Users may benefit from a more tailored
experience now that Facebook is in charge, but if laws tighten,
concerns about trust and privacy may surface and hurt companies
that depend on Facebook advertisements. It's improbable, though,
that one business will have total control over the Internet. Future
developments in technology, user preferences, and regulatory
actions will all influence the direction of the Internet.
