MAPEH DEPARTMENT MINUTES of LAC/FGD Sessions

2018-2019
The MAPEH Department spearheaded by the subject coordinator Mr. Crisanto M. Gudia conducted a meeting
at the school library with the following topics:
 MAPEH Curriculum Implementation.
- Competencies covered for the first and second quarters;
- Identifying the least mastered competencies;
- Sharing on effective classroom management techniques;
- Sharing of best practices.(strategies/techniques/differentiated instructions used in the delivery of
the lesson)
- Student’s performance in the subject.
- School activities in which the department is greatly involved.
- Students output.
- Culminating Activity.
- Other matters.

The activity started with an opening prayer lead by Mrs. RizaSumagaysay and followed by the singing of
Hymns with Miss NinetaDegamo conducting. Checking of attendance followed right away. The master teacher in
MAPEH, Mr. CrisantoGudia gave the statement of purpose and handled the LAC session proper. He started the session
by thanking everyone for the assistance given with the different programs and activities where the teachers in the
department is involved. He commended the efforts exerted for the responsibilities assigned to all of us which
contributed to the success of the different activities.
Mr. Gudia then delivered the different topics and concerns that we are going to tackle which is the main
purpose of having the session. Our main concerned is all about our subject, he then asked the status of the
competencies covered for the first and second quarter. Everyone has confirmed that 100 % of the competencies are
covered. Everyone would like to talk and Mrs. Torreon commented that she could have finished earlier with the
competencies for the two quarter if not bothered with so many activities of the school and everybody is agreeing with
her. But another question was raised by Mr. Gudia that even if we have tackled all the competencies, were we able to
achieve the mastery level of all competencies? Majority of us is unanimous that we really have least mastered
competencies based on the item analysis. Ms. Bolair asked on how can they possibly addressed the least mastered
competencies. Mr. Gudia then talked and shared his experiences, strategies and techniques in addressing the least
mastered competencies. He emphasized that we must never rely too much on the book alone, we must widen our
horizon and be resourceful in finding ways to deliver the lesson in a more meaningful, interesting and enjoyable ways
where we can assure that great learning and retention will take place. He stressed out that sometimes we need to
keep ourselves abreast with the new technology, conduct research in the internet especially to the most difficult
lesson and download materials and reliable teaching learning resources. He also shares that each learners learned in
different ways so it is a must that we must know the skills, abilities and capacities of each learner to address specific
learning needs. It is then advised that if possible we need to apply differentiated instructions in the class and
experiment strategies to be used in the classroom instruction. For example: Performance task: Group A is more
inclined with dancing so they will doing a Dance Drama/Dance Interpretation, Group B are artist, so let them do
Painting/Drawing music/Poster and Slogan Making, Group C the writers, let them write observations, insights and
reaction paper based on the lesson, Group D the articulate/singers group, let them do Speech Choir/Chorous/Singing
activity. Everyone then enlightened that individual differences should be considered in giving a task for the learners to
work on and this will enhance and develop their full potentials.
Mrs. Sumagaysay raised a question on how are we going to address students with problematic behavior in the
class like using/ playing cellphones during class hours, absenteeism, students seeking attention, not giving their best
in the class? Many of us are really having same problem. Mr. Gudia then ask from the group to share effective
classroom management techniques used in addressing this matter. Ms. Degamo then share that we need to give
special attention to these type of learners like giving them special task to work on. Mrs. Husain shared that we need
call the attention of the parents as soon as possible to help the learner. Then Mr. Gudia then talked and share that
before giving a solution we must need to asses first the situation and the reason for that miss behavior in the class.
First he emphasized that at the very start of the school year we need to set rules and standards in the class for them
to follow and be firm with it as to the implementation. For students who are fond of using and playing cellphones,
remind them of the school policies regarding the usage of cellphone in the classroom, if still not following, address the
problem to the guidance office for an immediate disciplinary action.

For students who are always absent, try to talk to them asked personally the reason why he/she is always
absent and after which try to give solution depending on the reason of the issue. Mr. Gudia then share that he has a
student before who is always absent and find it out that the reason is due to poverty, family and school related
problem, and what he did is that he reach out and extended help to save the student by sponsoring his school fees,
projects and fare allowance and sometimes his/her lunch. By doing it we help save a learner and inculcate in them the
values of helping, determination and perseverance. He added for students not to get board in the class, try to change
their setting arrangement quarterly or monthly depending on our creativity to arrange them, give special task for
those students like by making them a leader, a checker, etc. He also added that we need to use reward system or
positive reinforcement in our class to motivate them to give their best, refrain from doing a lot of paperwork’s,
engage the learners in a more active and interesting task to work on. If it is possible try to bring the class out of the
classroom and to performance task to activate and energize and recharged them from the academic stress. He
concluded that if we will try to apply these, students will sure behave well, do more, learn more and will love your
subject so they will never be late, they will never be absent, they will focus on the subject and treasure every moment
in your class.

Other concern was asked but it seems everyone is already full. Mr. Gudia reminded us to submit grades on
time and be the best teacher to our students.

And that ends our meeting.

MAPEH NARRATIVE AND ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

S.Y 2017-2018”

“Equipping oneself with the basic skills and knowledge will prepare you in the battle towards achieving
the mission and vision of the department of education”
The MAPEH department of Cangawa National High School spearheaded by the Master Teacher I and
the Organizer/Managed the In-Service training of the department for two consecutive years has been
successfully conducted the said activity through the efforts and collaboration with the teachers. Because of this
enhancement of the competencies in MAPEH, our problems when it comes to the delivery of the different
learning competenciesespecially to the most difficult to teach has been addressed and given solutions.
MAPEH is a subject in the K12 curriculum that plays a very important role in developing a well-
rounded personality. It is also necessary because they culturally enrich students and help them enjoy and learn
new things that can be used in real life situation. Music and Arts at the very least provide an outlet for relaxation
and expression of ones feelings and emotions. Physical education on the other hand teaches the importance of
keeping the body active and moving to maintain an overall fitness and aims to make the students physically
strong, well poised, sound and efficient, mentally alert and active, emotionally tempered and well balanced.
Health helps to teach one on how to stay well and things that they should and should not do to their bodies. But
realizing these thingsrequires an efficient and effective implementers of the MAPEH curriculum inside the
classroom. MAPEH must be capacitated in the delivery of instructions and must upgradetheir knowledge when
it comes to new strategies and techniques in teaching the subject. If teachers well have these, students will
become more interested in the subject and willimprove learning outcomes. All the objectives of the training has
been achieve. At the end of the training, teachers should be able to; identify new teaching strategies to be used
in the most difficult to teach competencies:contextualize some of the standard content in the K TO 12
curriculum;know how to evaluate learning outcomes at the diagnostic, formative, and summative stages.share
their best practices in relation to learner centered teaching approaches and create instructional materials. Our
pictorials will speak of the achievements that we are able to accomplish in this in-service training.

The success in our endeavors will not be made possible without the support, cooperation and the
willingness to work beyond of what is expected from the very dedicated MAPEH Teachers and so with the full
support in all aspect from our success oriented secondary school principal of Cangawa National High School.

reaction paper based on the lesson, Group D the articulate/singers group, let them do Speech Choir/Chorous/Singing
activity. Everyone then enlightened that individual differences should be considered in giving a task for the learners to
work on and this will enhance and develop their full potentials.
Mrs. Torreon raised a question on how are we going to address students with problematic behavior in the
class like using/ playing cellphones during class hours, absenteeism, students seeking attention, not giving their best
in the class?

Mr. Gudia reminded us to submit grades on
time and always be the best teacher to our students.

And that ends our meeting.
