My Biography

I am Jacob Raphael Yalung, known as "Hakob" to my parents and acquaintances. I am

the youngest child of Mrs. Amelia Yalung and Mr. Don Reyes, born on August 31, 2011.
My mother is forty-five years old and only completed secondary school at Benigno
National High School, while my father is forty-seven years old and graduated from TSU
(Tarlac State University) as a teacher who taught at Ecumenical School. He then
passed the board exam and ranked, becoming a teacher again at Benigno National
High School. However, he preferred to continue his studies and is currently a
policeman. My eldest brother finished BSIT, and my next brother is still in vocational
school but is preparing to enroll in an education course.

I began schooling at the age of four at San Sebastian Cathedral School in San Isidro,
where I learned to write and read. Thanks to the dedicated guidance of my beloved
teacher, Madam Jaicy, I learned to sing children's songs, dance, play, and participate in
discussions. I always went home with stars on my fingers or smiley faces on my hands.
The kindness of our principal, Sr. Ermelinda, who always had gifts and treats for us,
also left a lasting impression on me. Those memories are truly joyful to look back on.

From 2018 to 2023, I completed my elementary education at San Isidro Elementary

School. During this time, I worked hard and studied diligently to repay the support and
sacrifices of my parents. I received honors in grades 1, 2, 3, 4, and achieved highest
honors in grade 5.

During these years, I participated in competitions such as slogan writing, essay writing,
and attended journalism conferences, where we discussed various types of writing
including editorials, sports, news, columns, and features. There were also times when I
competed in academic contests in subjects like Math, Science, and English. However,
despite this, I must admit that I am not particularly fond of sports; my hobbies lean more
towards playing video games, solving puzzles, watching YouTube, studying, and
listening to worship songs.

Before graduation, I also took the exam for the STE (Science, Technology, and
Engineering Program) at Tarlac National High School, and fortunately, I passed. I was
overjoyed when the results were released. Nevertheless, I chose to return and enroll in
my alma mater because I felt more at peace there and believed that they could mold me
better in the course I aspire to in the future.

Upon graduating in July 2023, I received honors, which brought surprise, sadness, and
joy to my parents. Surprise and sadness because it wasn't the result they expected
based on the effort and dedication I put into my studies. However, joy and gratitude
prevailed in the end, and my graduation went smoothly. Because of this experience, I
made a promise to myself to work even harder in my studies to achieve my goals and
dreams in the future.
On August 1 of the current year, I began attending San Sebastian Cathedral School of
Tarlac, Inc. on F. Tañedo St., Brgy Poblacion, Tarlac City, next to the large church. I am
in my first year of secondary education.

The first day of school was quite different for me as everything around me was new.
New teachers and classmates who were noisier and rowdier than my previous
classmates, but they are amusing to watch even though sometimes my ears hurt from
their noise. I enjoy almost all subjects in my studies, but there are some subjects that
are difficult for me, which I only pass through persistent study. At present, I am able to
pass all subjects smoothly except for Mapeh.

As the days pass, I am getting used to the life of a Sebastianian. There are almost
simultaneous activities such as research work, quizzes, and group work in different
subjects. I know this is part of studying and it is indeed a difficult part, but I will do my
best to overcome it and prove that I can do it. I will be strong and I will strive harder so
that I won't waste the life given to me by God and one day repay the sacrifices of my
parents.

My dream after college is to become a priest. Even as a child, this has been my dream,
partly because of the goodness I see in them. They have been my inspiration, and I
want to be like them, always open-handed to anyone who approaches them, ready to
help financially, spiritually, or morally, without discrimination. My inspiration is none other
than Fr. Jowi Mendoza, a living witness to his kindness.

Thank you, Lord, thank you to all my loved ones, parents, siblings, teachers, friends,
and to the people who have been and will be part of my life. Long live to all of us!

Life is too short, so use it wisely and don't waste it. Enjoy Life!
