Example Statement of The Problem

The study aims to enhance the security of the Jose Rizal Memorial State University cashiering system by implementing multi-factor authentication using a mobile application. It seeks to determine the current security level, how MFA would improve security, and how it could contribute to security. The study would benefit faculty, staff, the school, and future researchers by providing a more secure transaction system and basis for further research.

Statement of the Problem

The project/framework aims to improve the security capability of the Jose

Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU) Cashiering System through the

implementation of a multi-factor authentication (MFA) mechanism using a mobile

application and fortify the system against unauthorized access and safeguard sensitive

financial data.

Specifically, the study seeks to answer the following questions:

1. What is the current level of security provided by the authentication system

implemented in the JRMSU cashiering system?

2. Why and how will the implementation of a multi-factor authentication (MFA)

framework enhance the security of the JRMSU cashiering system?

3. How exactly can the implementation of this framework contribute to

improving the security of the JRMSU cashiering system?

4. What are the specific features offered by security frameworks in terms of

multi-factor authentication, and where can these features be applied within the

JRMSU cashiering system?

Significance of the Study

This study will be beneficial to the following:

Faculty Staff: This study provides a beneficial factor for faculty in terms of

enhanced security, ease of access, and support for regulatory compliance, ultimately

contributing to a safer and more productive working environment.

School (JRMSU): This study provides a significant benefit to the school. The

study will provide a robust and enhanced authentication method and enhanced

security measures and give a secure and safe transaction.

The researchers: This study is also beneficial for future researchers. This study

will give the researcher insight and a basis for further research in terms of advanced

authentication methods.

Scope and Delimitation of the Study

This study focuses on enhancing the security framework of Jose Rizal

Memorial State University's cashiering system. The paper proposes several ways to

fortify the JRMSU cashiering system's security framework to reduce these worries. To

make sure that only authorized users can access the system, this involves putting

strong authentication techniques like multi-factor authentication (MFA) in place.

Other aspects of the cashiering system, including its efficacy, user interface, and

functionality, are not explored in the analysis. Furthermore, the research

acknowledges the interdependence of different systems comprising the university's IT

infrastructure, the recommendations presented in this study may not have direct

applicability to other systems or departments at JRMSU.

Operational Definition of Terms

In this study, the reader will encounter words that are used operationally. To

fully understand the study, the following terms are given with their corresponding

definitions:
Multi-factor Authentication (MFA). Is a security measure that verifies the

identity of an individual attempting to access a digital service, account, or system. It

operates under the premise that multiple pieces of evidence, or "factors," are

necessary to verify that the individual requesting access is who they claim to be.

QR Code. a digital barcode that stores information and it's a quick and easy

way to access or share information without typing anything manually.

Authentication. It's the process of confirming your identity to make sure

you're allowed to access something.

Jose Memorial State University (JRMSU): School in Dapitan City where

the researchers and the respondents are enrolled. And it is the place where the study is

conducted.
